Three words: damsel in distress.
If you like a weak female protagonist who always gets kidnapped and can't save herself, this is the one for you. I usually don't, unless it's realistic. The main character is a princess. She's very sheltered. Therefore, she's gonna be kinda helpless. There wasn't much character development, but the characters are understandable nonetheless.
One more thing. If you are looking for a pirate manga, this isn't the one for you. There isn't any pirate action whatsoever. I love pirates. That's the thing that turned me off.
Still, I enjoyed this manga. You should give it a shot.

Do you like pirate stories? Then find yourself another manga, because this one hardly touches the subject. But give a chance to Aoki Umi no Toraware Hime. You could still appreciate it, as this manga is very pleasant to read.

It tells the story of a princess, Matsurika, who's kidnapped by a pirate named Raju to be sacrificed on a divine altar. There are various misadventures and altercations with other characters, including the heroines suspicious fiance . Also, there's obviously a romance between the princess and the pirate. It's a shoujo, after all. There are also a good number of plot twists, some more obvious than ...

I hate giving bad ratings. A five is usually the least i would give, and i was about to choose just that, but come on.. there are so many plot holes and unnecessary ‘flashbacks’ and information that it ruined a previously mediocore manga. The girl MC is the biggest damsel in distress that i have ever seen. She only asks to be let go. The story is lacking and all over the place. the characters are given some glances into their personality and problems but it gets left at that and you are left with questions.
Honestly it’s bad. It had potential to be mediocre ...
