Synopsis

Whenever Suiren Shibazeki walks by, heads turn due to her captivatingly cute looks. In elementary school, boys would pay too much attention to her, to the point where she avoided them altogether. In middle school, she attended an all-girls school in the hopes of escaping all the unwanted attention, but she was still smothered by her classmates' coddling. As a result, Suiren now rarely speaks and maintains an expressionless face.

Advancing to high school, Suiren returns to a co-ed school and is once again the center of attention. The boys refer to her as "Takane no Hana," flower on a high peak, unreachable and idolized from afar. However, one boy outside her sea of admirers catches her eye—Kouha Kawasumi, a talented karate student who is just as quiet as her. While he may not return her immediate affection, Kouha saves her from a group of boys, jump-starting the heartwarming romance that blossoms between the two soft-spoken youths.

Hibi Chouchou was nominated for the 38th Kodansha Manga Award in the Shoujo manga category in 2014.

The series has been published in English as Like a Butterfly by VIZ Media under the Shojo Beat imprint since July 4, 2023. It has also been released in Spanish as Daily Butterfly by Planeta Cómic since May 29, 2024.

The manga received two drama CD adaptations released with the Comic Natalie magazine on November 20, 2014, and December 5, 2014.

I’ve Literally read this manga like 5 times and I’m still going to read it more. It’s so cute and there characters are so sweet. I can’t believe it doesn’t have an anime yet!! Even if it’s slow I don’t like when manga is too rushed. I think you’ll like it if you enjoy a sweet innocent romance. Highly recommend if you like slow burn romance as well. I like the main boy better than any frivolous guy characters. He’s more mature and he deserves a beautiful girlfriend just like Suiren. The ending nothing spectacular but I think you’ll like this. I remember reading this back when I was in tenth grade, around 2 years ago. I was such a sucker for romance back then... I still am but thankfully I've changed lol. I remember vividly that I felt for Suiren so much because I guess I kinda saw myself in her, plus, I was in a similar situation back then (the guy I liked liked me as well but he was really shy and wouldn't make a move). I thought that this was peak romance and it wouldn't get better than Hibi Chouchou.

So this is my first ever review, so be ready ;)

Story: 4
This manga is about a girl who is VERY pretty and usually gets a lot of unwanted attention from boys because of her looks. Because of that, she grew to be a shy and quiet person. In high school, she meets this quiet boy who doesn't make a big deal out of her looks, and she develops an interest in him.

To be honest, this story is a meh. It is so god dang slow and there isn't much juicy parts except a few blushes and that's that. You have to read A LOT ...
