Reputation is everything in a world of icons and popularity contests. So why not score some points here and there by being the nice guy? This is the way Shinghi Kang legitimizes the fake personality he has everyone believing. Armed with his above average looks and a (completely false) angel-like personality, he has every girl in school head over heals, and all the guys looking to him for guidance. With the exception of having a screwed up cross-dressing devil for a dad, Shinghi's life is absolute perfection (*cough* of lies) until one day, Sung-Hae transfers to his school.
While being a complete martial artist freak, she also likes to fib just a little in front of those who know her… you know, like acting like she's just a scared little girl who'd play with kittens rather than break brick walls with her head~! After all, how can anything go wrong when you're as cute as Sung-Hae?
Fate has brought these two masters of lies together and the two must battle it out to see who will be crowned the undefeated heavy-weight champion of fakeness!
I'm kind of conflicted as I sit here writing this. The beginning of this was hilarious, and that is putting it mildly. The art was fine, the story was coming along nicely, the humor was spot on. And it just... kind of falls apart in the last twenty chapters.
Without spoiling anything, the ending was most definitely rushed. The final arc was just so mediocre and boring, especially after we had finally gotten something good going on with the martial arts stuff in the previous arc, that the ending just feels like the author was forced to end it as readership must have been plummetting. To
make it worse, the actual last chapter spends about 80% of the panels just.... making what I assume the author thought was a funny joke, but in reality is just a slap in the face to the readers, before finally giving us a "surprise, i was kidding!" moment which falls flat.
As far as the first thirty-forty chapters go? It's great. Honestly, I would recommend reading that, as some of the jokes are really just great. But don't expect anything great from this. There was no character growth (and considering that the entire plot of the comic was about a certain characters growth, this is not something that can be overlooked), and the story just... dies.
First 60 or so chapters - 8.5/10. Last 20 chapters - 4/10. Actual final chapter - 0/10.
Intro: despite the fact that is still being published (11th volume at the moment) and there have been only 13 chapters scanlated by ryColaa, I think it deserves the attention. Also, the only review available here is in German?
The story follows two main leads, Shinghi Ghang and Sung-Hae as their rivalry (and potentially romance) heats up when they find out about the fake personalities each one has created to fool the people around them. Determined to eliminate any chances of being exposed to their fellow classmates, each of them tries to come up with ways of getting rid of the opponent.
The narrative is conveyed through
beautiful art which has a sharp, edgy feel to it and hilarious facial expressions that really add to the atmosphere as the characters are taken through a rollercoaster of crazy situations and wild emotions. The manhwa has a lot of laugh out loud moments, plenty of action and a dash of ecchiness.
So far, it has been an enjoyable read and lets hope that more chapters will be available soon - 9/10
Note: this review might be updated as more volumes become available.
Zippy already has a weird title so many people will most likely overlook it ( just like i did). Its not manga with a plot...its about a female who can kick some ass and a male with a mind to help him out of most situations compete against each other. The two do have some common points like both have facades about who they actually are. Basically they have people worship them for the things they don't do but take credit for.
The comedy is outrageously funny...the art is what adds to the extremely funny and stupid things that they do. So i really love
the art...funny by itself.
I dont know what else to say except if you looking for some stupid but funny to read with great art this is probably the one for us both.
This is the first Korean manhwa that I've read that isn't contrived and more focused on style over substance. It's an AWESOME manhwa!!! It literally has everything going for it: fantastic colorful characters (lead guy Shingi is a smart, conniving, troublemaking, evil genius); wonderful side characters; strong female characters), great art (I die every time Shingi makes his troll face lmfao), and an AWESOME STORY. I just love how Shingi keeps digging himself into deep holes but using his mischievous brain to get himself out of things. He's really a lovable character. Really evil, but so lovable. One of
the favorite lead characters in manga/manhwa.
Also this manhwa is absolutely hilarious; I literally LOL in every chapter. Some highlights are the robber guy slipping in poop and injuring himself while Shingi takes the credit; lots of crossdressing and misunderstandings; Shingi putting laxatives in his rival's drink and making him shit his pants on a date; etc. All the side characters are really great too, like Dukchil (who, despite all the jokes about his appearance, is quite handsome imo and a nice guy!), Seunghui and her mom (tough girls, yeah!), Michael (has hilarious complex about his name Chun Bok lol), everyone. Really great manhwa. Can't wait to read more! :)
