Synopsis

Chiyoko "Choco" Sakurai and Mimi Nekota are best friends with very different personalities. Choco is studious and hard-working while Mimi is a spoiled and imaginative free-spirit, yet both of them have the same flair for fashion and desire to look cute. Following them on their journey through junior high school are their friends, Ryunosuke "Andrew" Ando, Komei Mikami, Mumu Momoyama, and Kojika "Bambi" Mori. The six of them put their own unique spin on romance, school, and life in general.

Background

Chokomimi was partially published in English as Chocomimi by VIZ Media, who published the first five volumes from July 7, 2009 to November 2, 2010, under the VIZ Kids imprint, before the license was dropped.

The series went on hiatus in the September 2019 issue of Ribon due to Sonoda's health. She later died from breast cancer on August 4, 2019, ending the series' publication in the same issue.

ChocoMimi was a fun little read, but being male, it was embarrassing getting it from the library, because the book wouldn't check out, and both my mom AND the librarian came to help.

Choco Mimi is nothing more than a cute, fun little 4-panel-type Manga. It holds a special place in my heart because it was the first Manga I had ever read, so I probably rated this a bit too high, but oh well. There isn't really a whole lot to say about it. Give it a shot if you're into really cute and goofy 4-panel manga's. (Keep in mind, I'm pretty sure it stopped getting translated to English after Volume 5, sadly. Though I worded it as if there was only 1 Manga in the series, I believe there are 7 or 8?)
