Critics & Connoisseurs was a club that was founded in 2008 and ended club activities on the 31st of 2022.

The goal of the club was to come up with a list of highly recommended quality shows and manga that are exemplary either within its genre or universally. A manga needed a 70% approval rate in our voting to get on the relation list. The following manga are all part of said list.
Do note that our club's main focus always was anime, our club's readership was relatively low which results in a lot of manga not being able to reach enough votes to get on the relation list despite having a 70% or higher approval rate.

Not every romance manga is a cute and fluffy high school romance. This stack is a collection of romance stories with a darker setting/feel.

If you've had enough life and love experience to have a decent understanding of how things actually work (and how they don't), you realize that the way manga and anime typically portray romance is lacking, to say the least. And also generally horrible, if I'm being honest. But some are clearly written by people who know what's up—and you should check them out.

This is a list of printed works featuring characters who:
* exhibit authentic romantic chemistry with each other;
* have charisma and/or sex appeal and aren't afraid to use it;
* are able to hold mutually engaging conversations on different subjects;
* have three-dimensional personalities that are interesting and relatable outside the context of their relationships;
* go above and beyond the stale tropes in their relationship;
* otherwise behave like people tend to in non-imaginary relationships.

Includes well-written same-sex/LGBTI romance that complies with the principles above.

Includes stories that explore toxic/unhealthy relationships and relationships that don't end well but are still true to the real-world experience.

Includes stories that aren't completely focused on romance but have it as one of the core elements of the storytelling and character progression.

This list constitutes my personal views and stances. Feel free to shoot me suggestions via DMs but make sure you have a convincing argument if it's not something that's already on my main manga/anime list. I don't promise it'll end up here but I will consider all suggestions.

This list is printed-works-only because many of these don't have an anime equivalent and I don't want to multiply effort. Entries that have anime adaptations may be experienced better as such (I have noted it in the descriptions where applicable).

Honorable anime-only and anime-original mentions: Mind Game, Furiko, Steins;Gate.

- No Fully Gag or iyashikei Manga
- I Will Allow a few others of those series if there is dramatic scenes in them even if its sparse.
- There can be male protagonists in the series, but at least 75% of the manga has to revolve around the Female Lead.
- I Will also not include SOME harem/romance manga, but only some, a bit abitary but again dont wanna conflate the list
- I May count genderbent manga

Psychological drama, occasionally known as dark drama or was related to psychodrama, is a sub-genre of drama that places emphasis on psychological elements. It often overlaps with other genres such as fantasy, black comedy, and science fiction, while the genre is closely related with the psychological horror and psychological thriller genres. Psychological dramas use these genres tropes to focus on the human condition and psychological effects, usually in a mature and serious tone.

Psychological drama explore thematic elements such as abandonment, coming-of-age problems, denialism, disability, distorted sequences, dysfunctional relationships, human sexuality, mental disorders, mood swings, odd behaviors, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychological abuse, psychedelic art, social issues, and other serious discussions that unlikely centers themes turn more focused on both issues of the character's life and reality.

Ranked from what I liked the most to least, though all are awesome reads.

Manga that have shaped and influenced my becoming the person I am. Some I no longer agree with in their philosophy or ideas, but listing them here helps me to see where my head space was in my past and who I am now.

Interest stack for those who grew up on the internet, in particular to ways the internet has changed them. List of manga is particular to what you might've learned or experienced with becoming a person.

I love reading tragic and twisted romance. So I made this stack for myself and also for the people who enjoy reading them. Hope you'll be able to find something new through this stack ^^

So I noticed that korean manhwa can be added here which is a real game changer to the extention of my manga list.
Here's a stack of the best manhwas available on webtoons (That i've read - this is my opinion)
I've read quite a lot and pretty varied genres so I hope there's something for everybody!
I'm open to suggestions too!

Some of the best drawings in manga. Whether it is because of the level of detail or because of its creativity and uniqueness, these manga have beautiful artwork. This list only includes one manga per artist.

Of course this is very subjective and only consists of manga I’ve read. Feel free to comment more manga on my profile for me to check out and I might include in this list!

All of these manga must have EITHER:
-- A plot that is virtually unheard of
-- A major theme that is rarely explored
-- Or a very unique execution of an uncommon plot.

And they have to be good!

Hello again! There i'll list some Webtoons for persons that never read any webtoons, with completed histories that you can find on the WEBTOON by Naver app/site.

PS.: Bungaku Shojo was published as a manga before, but there's also a Webtoon published on the WEBTOON app.

All of these stories center around a main character with depression.

It is revealed or majorly hinted that they have depression within the first few chapters.

Important note: Not all of these focus specifically on depression, but it is almost always a major component of the main character's development.
