I enjoyed the anime quite a bit and wanted to read this for a while. I very much enjoy the characters and it's really cool to see more of what they do for a living. I also enjoy the way some of their stories are expanded. The lack of an overall plot takes away from what could have been a really great book.

What the OVA had was crazy over the top action, and the manga simply doesn't dwell on the tension as much, situations are resolved far too quickly and the plot revolves more around Tita's deceased father and how his demise came to pass. With such an outlandish SF setting i would have expected incredible alien sea creatures and surreal seascapes but what got the most attention were the nipples. All in all, I'm not disappointed as realistically it would not have been fair to have higher expectations from an action ecchi flick. It's not high art but it might serve to briefly entertain you.
