Both manga contain characters, with their past dark and painful. They all commit crimes and do dirty work just to get by. Despite committing heinous crimes, they are renowned in their field of expertise. If you enjoy a manga that holds the truth of the world, where people lose their lives and where you can see how people are truly greedy, these mangas both fit the criteria quite well. Both main characters are very good fighters.

Both feature feature working for a freelance agency of people with special powers in a basically corrupt town. Gangsta gives the impression that it takes place in Italy somewhere while Bungou definitely seems to take place in Japan, but the settings are both vaguely semi-corrupt cities where mafia violence breaks out on a day to day basis, giving the characters a chance to be badasses. Their art styles are rather different, with Bungou leaning toward bishounen-style art, and Gangsta being more seinen, but both are high quality. The abilities in Gangsta are also clearly stigmatized and given a more or less thorough explanation, whereas in  read more

Mystery. Action. Non-Humans. Area D and Gangsta have all these and much more. In both mangas the story revolves around the Non-Humans (Altered and Twilights) who are living their lives in restricted sections (island 'Area D' and 'Ergastulum'). But of course there's also movement against these Non-Humans and so a thrilling plot starts in which everyone seek to come out on top - no matter through what means.

Gangsta and Black Joke takes place in a setting where there are gangs, violence, and power struggles. There is themes of assassination that involves the main characters as they on powerful individuals/groups. Both series also features the mafia as they get into conflicts with the main characters. There is a noticeable amount of graphic content (and sexual themes in Black Joke). They adapt mature elements that makes their story more realistic.

If you're looking for a series taking place in a mature setting, then you're in luck. You could call Jackals the serious version of Gangsta. Pretty similiar and if you liked one of them, you'll like the other one.

Without spoiling too much, both are very violent and very tragic. The plot isnt very similar, but the tension in the plot is. If you like Gantz you'll probably like Gangsta, they even share the same first letter in the title, must mean something.

The setting in Alice in Hell and Gangsta is quite similar, a city where different fractions rule and a civil war between them is ever prominent. You've also got feelingless over powered main characters, prostitutes, and lots of violence and tragedy. Both are highly recommended. Oh and if you like me thought "Gangsta" was about a rapper, and Alice in Hell was an Alice in Wonderland adaption, you're completely wrong, luckily.

Gangsta. and Gangsta. CURSED have a special place in my heart, I am saddened at the lack of updates for the main series but it was very enjoyable and easy to read. The characters have nice, easy to understand dialogue and I hope that the author gets wells soon!

Both stories deal with the same questions: how do you co-exist with a species that is innately superior to you? Is killing them the correct answer? In Gangsta., there are people of superior ability called Twilights. Some humans ("Normals") have accepted the existence of Twilights and can live side-by-side with them, even to the point of befriending them and forming families. Aside from their superior strength, Twilights really aren't different from Normals. Yet, there are many people who are afraid and feel threatened by Twilights, therefore want them dead. There is an unavoidable war as there is an organization who is hunting down these Twilights. Although  read more

Excessive violence, "cool" characters, gangs and sex and drugs and all that. Pretty persuasive arguments right there.

Gangsta and Kekkai Sensen shares a similarity with their society - plenty of troubles, dangerous affairs, and underworld corruption. Both series consists of a colorful cast of characters coming from various backgrounds. There is also a good deal of focus on social norms in both series when it comes to various factions and characters' behaviors. Gangsta is known to have more mature themes while Kekkai Sensen settles its story with supernatural elements.

Characters are similar. Both Vash and Warrick are easygoing while Nicholas and Nicolas have a more serious nature. Both Trigun and Gangsta are somewhat bloody.

Both manga are very violent with a similar tone. Both main characters exhibit this very brutal, almost insane personality when fighting where they almost yearn for bloodshed however outside of battle both have a very calm and detached personality. Also in both they are friends or team up with a more level headed and calculating friend, in Drifters its Nobunaga and in Gangsta. It's his buisness partner Worick. However the setting is where they differ, Drifters is a fantasy world where tons of the big names throughout history are tossed in to (like Nobunaga or Jeanne d'Arc) where Gangsta. Is set in a lawless town  read more

Kyou kara Hitman and Gangsta takes place in an urban setting where there's drugs, crime, and activities in the underworld. Both series' main male protagonist are skilled fighters with talent in assassination. Their skill in handling firearms with a resourceful mind is evident. Both series follows their lifestyle as they take on dangerous criminals and powerful masterminds. There is also a good amount of characterization that focuses on the key characters. Expect mature themes with plenty of action.
