This is one of the best ongoing manga series, it has a great story that involved Gods and spirits. The story may have some funny moments but when the story becomes really serious, it will put you on edge of your seat.The main character is one of the funniest that make me laugh every time he does some wacky stuff. The art of this manga is superb for a month to month magazine, the clothing, the environment and the people are very well drawn. The fight scenes are entertaining, with some cool power up and awesome weapons that will make you super excited about the ... fights. So if you are looking to read something new that is really awesome i recommend this manga.

First of all, I have not seen the noragami anime. In fact, this might be the first manga I ever read without having seen the anime first. Despite that, the story completely swept me up, and I have been a loyal reader ever since.

Story: 10
It is very difficult to determine exactely which genre's Noragami belongs to. Yes, it has shonen characteristics, but it also has a seinen feel to it. The story is mostly devided into arcs, but they transition into each other very smoothly, and it often feels as though multpiple story-arcs are running at once. There are even some chapters that are ... almost stand-alone, yet are still very important to the plot. The story is has plenty of action and fights, but also drama, comedy, and mystery. Honestly, it feels as though it has only just begin, and I hope it will continue for a long time.

When it comes to art, Noragami is quite simply my favorite manga ever. Not much needs to be said here, just read the first chapter and you'll see exactely what I mean.

Characters: 9
When I first started reading, I felt like the characters where sort of lacking. The female protagonist wasn't all that interesting, the male protagonist was a walking shonen-cliché, and the third man was pretty annoying. I don't exactely know when this changed, but right now that third man is admireable, the female protagonist is likable and a refreshing change from standerd overpowered fanservice girls, and the hero is one of the most interesting, compelling characters I know. The secondary characters are also likable and origional, and the villains are interesting and mysterious.

I have re-read this manga multible times now, and it just gets better every time. It's funny, compelling, and utterly enjoyable.

I think by now it should be obvious how much love this manga, I hope I managed to convince a few people to give it a try.

Truly magnificent, Noragami is a manga fit for praise. The story is smooth and unique, the art is clean, the characters are all deep and 3D, and overall I was gripped by it to the end. It's hard to come by such a gem, especially one whose story connects from the very beginning. Many authors have a wobbly beginning that smooths out a bit at the end, but this one was polished the entire way.

It was successful enough to receive an anime of currently two seasons. Like most people, I watched the anime first, and while that's not the subject of the review, the anime ... is excellent and I highly encourage you to watch it, if you haven't already.

However, some details in the manga are left out in the anime. It does not take away from the anime in the least, but the manga has those rich details that really make the characters pop. Also, the main character Yato undergoes a bit more of character development than in the anime. In the anime, he goes from indifference toward the heroine, Hiyori, to heartwarming friendship. In the manga, he develops from his violent nature.

All in all, a very pleasing manga. It truly deserves "Outstanding" across the board. Completely original, dark enough to be mysterious but not enough to be gross, Noragami is not a manga you would want to miss.

A quick review for people who have finished the anime (no spoilers)

Noragami - it feels like each chapter has something important to tell and spice up the plot. It has a lot of mysteries and plot twists which make you read more and more. A lot of characters can grow on you and they become likeable.

That said, it is a well-thought-out story as well as world-building. It feels like the author has thought of every single possible situation.

The adaptation itself is quite strange. They rearranged a whole lot of scenes, but I also have to say that I very much prefer anime's order to ... manga's. However, I must say that the last arc of Season 2 is way different from the manga's so I suggest reading it either from the start or from chapter 35.

I would definitely recommend Noragami to anyone, especially for those who have finished the anime, just for how good it is.

When first looked at, nothing really stands out with Noragami. It does really seem like your average, run of the mill popular battle Shonen manga. And that is somewhat true. But when examined further, it can be seen that Noragami is exceptional and a very nicely crafted manga that will suck you right in.

Story - 8/10

The story is somewhat average, with elements that can be found in many Shonen manga like a power-up that is executed when on the brink of death, the "main character is very very gifted and exceptional" cliche, and so on. But these elements take a back seat for Noragami's actual ... tale, which is the story of life and despite looking and acting very similar, just how different the life of a God and a Shinki/Human is. The world of Noragami fools you by showing you its Gods experience human emotions, have a human body and act like a human. You fall under the impression that a God and Shinki is on the two sides of the same coin, and soon after Noragami twists this idea on its head. The further the story progresses, the wider the divide between the existence of a God and a Shinki gets. It is genuinely heartbreaking what the world does to some Shinki, and how dark the story can get. Not as dark as actual Dark Fantasies or works of that nature would go, mind you, but darker than a normal Shonen would be willing to. It is also worth noting that even though this series is, in its core, a battle Shonen, most of the time you do not see fights or battles, most of the time is spent on dialogue and character interactions. When a fight is done, though, it pays off.

Art - 7/10

The art, while not spectacular, is a real treat to the eyes and can look really stunning when it wants to. It's somewhat inconsistent in the earlier parts but gets much better towards the latter part of the story.

Character - 9/10

As I mentioned in the Story section, this manga is not afraid to push very heavy weights onto its characters. The characters usually go through some hard tribulations to get where they are, and while there is usually not a drastic change in the way they act, the impact can always be somewhat felt. The main character, Yato, is very well thought out and any of his interactions is filled with smart writing. He is one of the selling points of this manga. Some side characters like Bishamonten, Kazuma and Kofuku are also among my favorites. Nora is also very well written and she is among one of my favorite antagonists ever, as towards the latter part of the story she turns from blank servant to a real character with properly understandable motivations and emotions. The story just started focusing on her so we may get some more of her, which I really hope we do.

Enjoyment - 9/10

I can't say much for this segment, as it is very subjective and I can't really explain why I enjoy it so much besides the reasons above, so I'll just let the rating speak for itself.

Overall - 8/10

Noragami is a manga that embraces its strengths and world in a very captivating way. It tells a story from multiple perspectives and as the story goes on, we start to see our main character Yato less and less often, and the side characters of the show get some much-needed attention, which makes its world feel all the more alive. I highly suggest you catch up with it, as it isn't that long at all. You can get through the entirety of the current chapters in maybe 2 or 3 sittings.

Noragami is ... a good anime and a good manga. One of the only manga and anime I read, liked and read, good story, plot, characters, etc. ... but, as we know, the manga and the anime are not perfect, always have defects in them ... and ... Noragami I have many, I can say ... and a question that I have in my head for a long time. .. the father of Yato (who forgot the name) he is a god or what? Nora, why the hell does she do that, right? Pure will and free spontaneous will? How the hell can humans see ... Yato and talk and know what's going on and still have their cell phone number? If you know, you respond seriously! OK! bye Bye

I must say, I have been itching to write a Noragami review since the second season of the anime started, but ultimately I decided to go with the manga since I'm currently reading it, and I personally just think it's better.

I LOVE Noragami. I have been slightly obsessed with it ever since I first saw it. I really don't read much manga. The only time I do for the most part is if I love an anime enough that I want to continue on with the story. And I just couldn't get away from Noragami.

I've enjoyed it a lot more than I originally thought I ... would. At first it really doesn't seem like there's anything particularly unique about the story, but I found out soon enough that, despite a seemingly generic plot and cast of characters upon first glance, there is sooo much more. And I think what really had me above all was the characters.

Yato: Main character, and my favorite character in the show. He's a god (not a very good one) who starts out the series going around granting little wishes for five yen. He's goofy and self-absorbed, determined to have a shrine and people who look up to him like all the other gods. While he seems to be kind of a bumbling idiot at first who can't even keep a Regalia or a place to sleep at night, it's made clear as the series progresses that he has his own super screwed up set of issues and a lot of different sides to his personality when the situation calls for it. The way his character changes and develops upon his interactions with Hiyori and Yukine touches my heart.

Yukine: Yato's Regalia, who actually frustrated me a lot at first for various reasons, including being a selfish brat. I guess that's not too abnormal for a teenager, though. But perhaps even more so than Yato, he really develops later on and becomes a character very dear to me. I felt like his growth was really well done, as well as the development of his relationship with Yato.

Hiyori: The female lead and a half-phantom who wants Yato to return her to her normal human state. She is kind and selfless, often seeming to take on something of a motherly like role for Yato and Yukine. I like Hiyori, although not as much as the former two. I feel like she, above all the characters, could have had more development; however, she's still far from being the typical female protagonist who is useless and just exists to be saved or for fanservice. Just does actually have a significant purpose to the story line, and she has this interesting way of using her love of sumo wrestling to her advantage :)

I also like the supporting characters, such as Bishamon and Kazuma... Nora is really the kind of villain you love to hate. All of her scenes leave me chilled to the bone and her frustrating, complicated relationship with Yato makes me want to tear my hair out. Just... awesome stuff.

As for the art, it's nice. I have no complaints.

Anyway, Noragami's a great manga and I would recommend it to anyone who has either seen the anime or who is looking for an interesting read. Even if it doesn't grip you in the first few chapters, I implore you not to give up. It's a seriously epic story.

This is a... relatively spoiler-free review, although I advise having a bit of knowledge about it before reading this. Nevertheless, there will be no spoilers related to the actual plot. Warning: mention of trauma/abuse

Saying that Noragami is a comedy is so far from the truth. There is absolutely no chapter that is truly comedic by which I mean that there is something bad that happens in every. single. chapter, whether it be something small or otherwise. Although I did give it a 10 in enjoyment, I am NOT enjoying the ride for the sole reason that reading this feels like being beaten repeatedly with a ... baseball bat by Adachitoka - simply soul-crushing at times. Adachitoka do give some breathers from time to time with filler chapters (or half chapters since the infamous year-long hiatus).

Adachitoka manage to create many complex characters which show a great deal of character development, of character building: they don't progress per se at all times, because everyone has a setback from time to time. She manages to blend character growth with its reverse extremely well thus creating realistic characters in a matter of speaking (since in the end it is a supernatural manga). They also manage to address trauma and abuse that characters went through in a way that it doesn't define them, but in a way that has shaped their past and affected their future and judgment to an extent. I could go on and on about how they have created amazing characters but alas, I don't want to.

Story-wise, again no comments. Adachitoka use foreshadowing a lot and, after re-reading the manga, I can say it is mindblowing how many subtle hints they give to future happenings in their chapters. It can be at times predictable but in a way that won't bore you because believe me, you know that they are about to beat the crap out of you, but you will never know the force they will use - and it's usually with a far greater force than you expect. You know the "This is fine" meme? Well, it pretty much sums up the Noragami experience!

The anime simply does not do this justice since they changed/ added a lot, for example [SPOILER] Ebisu's death (still mad about that, BONES) and the whole Rabo arc which was completely unnecessary. On the bright side, it had a banger soundtrack!

It's is the first manga which I have started reading in my life.after watching it's anime series I have fallen for this series and can't stop my self from Start reading manga of this series.the story of this series is really very interesting.it has clean story without any rubbish matterial.each and every character in this series is well defined.once you start reading it you can not stop your self from reading It again and again.i really honor the work of this series author.my thanks to the author of this series who have given us such a wonderful memories.
And I still hope that someday we ... will really get season 3 of this series ♥️

Noragami is one of the best written manga out there. It can get tedious (for me personally) but the investment is worth it for when it gets serious it commits to that, no deus ex machina here.
When tragedy strikes it does so brutally.
The manga does take care to not be too dark a story, death does not always mean the end and is instead seen as a rebirth.
The loss in the manga feels real and the callousness of divine beings as well as their indefference to sentimentality is very evident.
The Good times are good and the bad times are bad nothing is watered down.
A minor ... criticism is that the relationships of the characters can feel forced or lack any sort of chemistry but just some.

I honestly loved this manga. It was enjoyable lovable characters ,and a nice story it doesn't get to dramatic. Its not some teen drama about love or a harem or anything like that Its funny in a weird way its like the more you read about the characters the more you understand them and when they do something funny or stupid you have a sense that you know them like family so when are main character is stalking his first ever believer you understand why it isn't creepy it hilarious It reminds me of Gintama for some reason like it can make you cry ... one second and left the next its feel like Happiness and comedy also what I love about this is it shows a different kind of love not that it doesn't show romance but like it shows family and friend love its strange you really grow to like the characters and I honestly feel happier after reading this

Pleasant, well-developed characters with balanced realism, not only the protagonists but also the secondary ones, a non-obvious plot, creative in a way and with good twists that you can only discover when reading. As well as having beautiful artstyle.
It exceeded my expectations in every way: it has amazing fights, a lot of comedy, but without overdoing it, good romance and approaches sensitive themes that helps to make the characters more human, with whom we easily end up relating to. By the way, it's much better than most Shounen that have. It's worth buying the mangas.

I really love this manga. All the characters are charismatics and you feel so into the story. There is comedy, adventure, thriller, action, romance... And is very fun to read. I hope the manga continues good.

Noragami have a lot of arcs with different themes. So, you will never be boring because it's never a lot of fights nether a lot of comedy constantly.

The anime is good to, but I strongly recommend to read the manga first.

Another thing I love so much is the design feature of the manga. It's very clean and enjoyable. You can see the authors are hardworking to give ... us a nice story with great drawings.

If you're not too particular, this manga's pretty good. I ruined any hope of my continuing to read this manga by looking into the actual gods the characters are based off of.

All in all, it's a really good, compelling manga if you overlook the blatant liberties it takes in mythological accuracy.

(Though I digress, even the actual mythology isn't even all consistent.)

This is a rather interesting manga about gods and their dependency upon people rather than the people's dependency upon them. It's an amusing thought.

The manga has action, tragedy, hilarity, and mystery! So it offers a lot. Just, ... uh, don't look up the actual gods. Just don't. It ruined everything for me.

-Art-

Very good! Well done! Fight scenes look fantastic! Art style is great!

-Characters-

The characters really help draw you into the story. You really start to cheer for Yato early on the story; you really want him to succeed. And Yukine really starts to grow on you once he gets over himself. Hiyori is also really sweet. It's really nice to see these characters come together and draw strength from each other.

My favorite character is Yato. He's so silly! (And also really, really sad and complicated and heroic.)

I love how it always has you smiling or laughing due to the the comedy, or on edge due to how serious the scene is. It *almost* (and I'll get to that later) never feels boring or badly paced. There are small moments which add so much more depth to the story and to the characters which many people forget to appreciate. However, some chapters (mostly early ones) might bore you due to their sheer length, but this is uncommon in later chapters. The fights are great, but they are sometimes hard to follow. I love how Adachitoka adds depth to their artwork. And it's ... not only the artwork that's great, the story is excellent! Immediately, we know Yato's personality. We know Hiyori is an ordinary high-school girl dragged into the world of the Far Shore. We know Yukine is going through tough time, worsened by his incompetent master. Even supporting characters, like say Bishamonten, Kazuma, Kofuko, Daikoku, and/or Ebisu have motivations for their actions.

All in all, I think it's a great read, and would especially recommend it to people new to manga.

When I first saw this manga, I didnt really have too much high hopes for it. I felt that the whole supernatural God thing was a pretty hard story line to do good without being cringy or relying too much on religious background info and stereotypes.

I was pleasantly surprised reading it. It doesnt lean into religious stereotypes nor is it a one sided criticism on religion as MANY manga's or anime's seem to do. Instead, its a really original take on spiritualism and fate with just the right amount of fighting and overall really excellent character development.

The story feels really grounded in its world, ... the arcs are really original, and the characters backgrounds are done really well where you can both empathize with a character for having gone through similar moral crossroads yet its original enough that you can't help but ponder yourself.

Truly an underrated gem of the genre and one that many can look to for how to make tasteful stories about very difficult topics yet still having that humor and wholesomeness.

If I can have one ask from the author is that I hope that he doesnt abandon this manga and continues to write for all its loving readers.

Gods and spirits.Minor and major gods.Noragami has an interesting theme(personal preference.I love mythology).However, the story-telling is inconsistent and weak.There's humor here and there, but the weakness of the plot irritates me a lot.

... This is where it bugs me.Noragami does no effort on character.Everyone's character is changed to suit the situation, especially the supporting characters.There is some charcater development, but nothing note-worthy.

Despite it's flaws, Noragami is a fun read.It sometimes irritates me, but it also makes me laugh and feel.

this manga has rated PG-13 but believe me this is A TOTAL massacre manga. After starting with slow this is going to kill each and every character.

As disgusting as it is , the MC is shown OVERPOWERED power-freak who doesn't have his mind on the right place and goes massacre without a thought. he is a puppet. I mean each and every character doesn't stand a chance against the MC whether it's someone with higher power or whatever. and the gaudy character of the MC who doesn't respect a single person and call them "bitch" is unacceptable for a "god" character. It all makes me ... hate to the MC. Such selfish delinquent doesn't deserve to be a god and worshiped. and there is a whole lot dissatisfaction toward the story.
