Synopsis

"Angel Gunfighter" is a thrilling Western Manga filled with love stories and gunfights. The setting for the story is a small town in the American Wild West.

In a small town of the border region between New Mexico and Arizona, a rogue cop called Ham Egg is conspiring with the mayor to dominate the town. But Ham Egg has an obstacle to his plot. It is "Monster," an Indian youngster. Monster stands up to save the town from corruption and bring it back to normal, fighting against the Ham Egg group together with a boy named Jim and a female gun expert, Anna.

A fairly average early Tezuka manga that explores some western themes and elements. Any western after pretty much contains most of what this manga contains, and really any apocalypse style mangas. As a result there is very little to chew up that you wouldn't have experienced before, and thus the value of this work is mostly historically. The characters don't really stand out, even in contrast to Tezuka's earlier characters like Mimio, or others of his reoccurring cast. The heavy leaning on western tropes that most "westerners" would be familiar with but lacking some of the nuance of the later spaghetti westerns makes a work ...
