The main characters have a "dark hidden past" (some more than others), in both mangas (it doesn't end up explained in Tripeace though, since it's only translated up to chapter 30). The "mood" given off by war is very similar in these two mangas. Both mangas have a dominating militaristic country and many conspiracies. They both portray a cold world and the crimes against humanity an invading country can inflict towards civilians. Despite the serious parts, the mangas are also very funny and have humorous moments.

-Both have bloody fights -Both have a resistance against a bigger foe -All action -GAR Both are worth the read if you like fast paced action over story. (Though Tripeace has a bit more story, where Needless is bolted on more action)

Both have really good characters with dark backstories. Tripeace is less psychological and more action, but it still has it's fair share of drama between the characters just like Fukashigi Philia does. Plus both main characters are not showing their true personalities at first.

Both are dramatic action manga about saving/destroying the world. The main characters both seem powerless at first but eventually discover they have more power than they realized. Both main characters are hiding (in one case they don't even know it themselves) their true nature.

Both main characters join an organization to fight evil after witnessing the death of people close to them. Both have similar artwork which is especially noticeable in darker moments where the artwork highlights the negative emotions and violence. Both contain a lot of blood.

This manga just gives me the same feeling. The main characters both join an organisation. They both have a deep past which they don't completely show you. Both main characters are becoming stronger and ''unlock'' powers they already have which they are unaware of . If you like one of them than you definitely like the other one. D.Gray-Man is in my opinion a bit deeper.

Nana and Vash are good-natured, goofy and very idealistic characters who use their strength to do what they think is right, yet they are not foolhardy or obnoxious. Pacifism and even Vash's catchphrase (the world is made of) "love and peace" are pervading Tripeace as well. They are both inherently wacky, with many different colorful characters, and it is very easy to build strong bonds to these characters. Both Trigun and Tripeace build their their unique, yet easily accessible world. Shiro is like an action version of Merryl in that she is a straight man and very serious, but she is more of a fighting badass than  read more
