I have to say that story-wise, I was quite satisfied. This is a great coming-of-age story about a princess that leaves the castle to discover the outside world. She discovers how other people live and uncovers the past of the characters she travels with. Furthermore, there is enough light hearted humor to balance the more serious aspects of the plot.
The travelers move from town to town and encounter a lot of characters, and a lot of times they put themselves in danger to complete a certain mission, the princess included. Though Violet can't defend herself at first because of her upbringing as a pampered princess,
...
she does become stronger in character and personality throughout the chapters.
The art was fantastic and the storyline was pretty great. I was just disappointed that there were so many side quests before the characters pursued the treasure for the main plot. However, when it did pick up, it was a very thrilling read, especially in the last fourth of the book. Also, it was very obvious what the canon ship was, not that that was bad for me, but it could be for other readers. I feel as if the romance between the two could be developed a little bit better, like there could have been more to it, but I think the end made up for it.
