Synopsis

Minor plot spoilers.

Many mangas have the concept of wish-fulfillment in their story telling and plot line, but this manga is the closest material I’ve ever read taking that ideal on a whole new level. To be exact, not only is the plot line clearly based on a huge, overnight glow-up, but there’s numerous of plot developments and arcs that scream the cursed words of “wish fulfillment.”

This manga, unfortunately, takes wish-fulfillment to an extreme level, plunging into a gaslighting narrative that only a sadistic person could find enjoyment in. The initial premise of a childhood friend's ex and a sudden glow-up might catch your interest, but it quickly devolves into a monotonous loop of "The main character is perfect, and the childhood friend is despicable."

The plot, once promising, becomes bare and dry, with minimal development beyond the initial setup. Each chapter follows the same predictable formula, making the storyline tedious and unengaging. This manga is very heavy handed in its storytelling of manipulation and psychological torment. The obvious pillars for an overcome-improvement style of development in the main character, but it does what so many manga get wrong and that is environmental storytelling.

I am used to poor writing and horribly written characters at this point, just look at my manga list.
