TL,DR: Generally a good manga, but could have used better fleshing out or even a longer length.
I've been interested in reading this series ever since I saw it while browsing a BL manga page. Luckily, I've been able to read it now, and it was generally an enjoyable read. However, it didn't quite live up to my expectations.
Let's start with the good bits. As a history buff, I found the setting (post-war Japan, 1950) to be really intriguing, and it felt unique yet grounded in the time period. Given the time period, homophobia did play a part in the leads' relationship, and I thought

that the way that it was resolved felt satisfying enough. The characters were likable, and I thought that they had good chemistry. The art was also very nice.
The main problem that I personally had with it is that a lot of things that were central to the plot were not properly expanded upon. For example, the Japanese lead, Sei, is noted as having some form of PTSD, which is where the title of the manga itself comes from-it makes it difficult for him to sleep at night. Despite this, though, apart from an admittedly confusing flashback/dream scene, what exactly happened to cause his PTSD isn't fully explained. It's not the biggest thing in the world, but it did bring the series down for me a little bit. I feel like this story would have been better off with an extra volume, which would have let the author explore the characters more and make the ending more satisfying.
Overall, I think, critically, I'd give it a 6 out of 10. It has the bones of a good story, but it needed the meat to make it really worth its while. (Enjoyment-wise, it gets a 7/10.)
