Summary:
Isekai Nihon is a manga that takes place in an Isekai Apocalypse scenario where another world invades our own. First impressions of the manga are not good. It tries to distance itself from the common Isekai so hard, yet fails to do so.
MC comes from a long line of assassins, so the first thing that he does while him and his family are under attack by orcs(?) is to book it after stealing his old man's RV because he hates his family, why? I don't know, because somehow, he has the world view of a normal human (which he shouldn't because he was literally raised
...
by a family of assassins). And while stopping by a convenience store, he comes across the orcs(?) again, and manages to run off.
Then he sees on a TV that this is happening everywhere else in Japan, and immediately comes to the conclusion that Japan is doomed. Then, he meets an elf girl by the shore of a beach and helps her with his assassin capabilities, and used a knife to kill the orc(?) attacking her. He then immediately falls in love with her, and proposes to her on the spot.
Take:
If, knives and swords can pierce the flesh of these otherworldly creatures, then why can't bullets? or artillery shells? or missiles? or nukes maybe? This manga greatly underestimates and disrespects the military so much that I can't help but write a review.
Japan's SDF are one of the strongest militaries in the world despite having never seen any real warfare. With guns, and helicopters loaded with ammunition and missiles capable of penetrating through steel and a lot of other things, I just don't find it realistic that Japan would immediately fall because they were terrorized by a bunch of plus sized medieval larpers.
First off, the orcs, or whatever those pig things are, they were easily held off by the MC's family, so they can't be that strong. A bullet through the skull should be enough, and bullets should be able to penetrate through their skin because a sword and a tiny knife can.
And now to the what ifs, what about a Dragon? Dragons usually have hard scales and they fly so guns wouldn't be as effective-- AA guns, and AA missiles would shred a Dragon into pieces, or maybe a fighter jet or an attack helicopter.
What about magic and demon lords? Well, for demon lords, nukes are an option, and again, missiles. Or, maybe, a little bit of that mystical mustard gas or ricin? Anthrax? (of course after evacuating the citizens from the areas) or maybe just shoot them in the head from a far, a human mage would die before they could cast a spell from a hidden sniper.
And even if the JSDF fail, Japan is a part of NATO. There's absolutely no way that NATO would let Japan fall just like that without any intervention. Especially the US.
In conclusion, it's just not realistic, and isn't good enough to make up for the unrealistic-ness. Well, it's still only two chapters though I'll probably give it a little time.
