It's an ambitious story. And so much of it can go wrong.
But I think a lot of elements in this story works. While they do fall into a bit of exoticizing Saul's culture, it's clear that some care have been taken to make sure their culture is not portrayed as barbaric.
And both Saul and Alain are good, nuanced characters. They're pretty fleshed out for a single tankoubon, and their interactions are refreshingly free from your typical gruff emotionless seme and rebellious uke dynamics--something that Jita sometimes fall into. Aside from their bedroom roles, Alain and Saul are pretty equal in power and control.

mostly questioning the political part of the plot. While it does give a good stake and motivation for Alain, that part of the story got resolved a bit too quickly, a bit too conveniently.
