7.1/10
Cringe. Cringe. Cringe. Cringe. Cringe.
Why do I like this. Why do I like this. Why do I like this.
God, this manga sucks. Yet, it’s somehow redeeming due to one factor alone: the fmc. I kid you not, every other single plot point, character, or development can only be described as cringe.
Let’s start off with the huge negatives: This manga is cringe solely due to the manga taking the word “mob” too literally in its premise and characters. Like a mob character, the mc knows he’s a background character and has a “friend” who is exponentially “better” than he ever will be —
...
does the premise sound familiar? However, instead of mainly being a drama, romcom that is centered on comedy, this manga takes a more psychological approach with the mc and his development, but it’s executed in such a “cringy” game-like manner with his monologues and art that the manga is laughable, since it somehow got pass the editorial team. It also doesn’t help that the mc is a spineless as they come, however, that could be brushed aside due to his “traumatizing” experience, so I won’t knock him much for that.
Like noted before, the plot is a drama romcom, however, the plot points for the drama are equally as ridiculous as the characters. Each development or event in this manga has been no less than forced. As for the plot layout, the other “side” heroines are so dislikable due to the author being predictable in his writing of the classic “redeeming” backstory.
Considering all of the hatred I gave this manga, why in my right mind would I give this a 7.1 besides for it being engaging? Well, call me a simp, but I have never seen a manga that was carried more from its heroine than one this manga. Unlike the mc, the fmc is actually well-develop, fleshed out — albeit with some plot conveniences — and most importantly, cute asf, aka likable. Due to this, she also “spreads her influence” onto the mc, making him undergo some form of development from his mob-like mentality, which is actually somewhat nice or refreshing to read.
Visualize this manga as a weighted scale: On one end, this manga is absolute, utter trash, weight it down heavily, however, the fmc alone balances it out, becoming a rather enjoyable manga only when her presence is know. Thanks to this, this has achieved the upper echelon of “so bad that it is good,” which isn’t that big of an accomplishment, but it’s something.
