Despite having different aesthetics and settings, both explore the basic foundations of a variety of martial arts.

Do note however that Kenichi is set in present time and the martial arts explored is exaggerated and mostly hand-to-hand combat. Gamaran, on the other hand, is set in a historical era and mainly revolves around sword-fighting.

even though Bleach has more supernatural elements, both manga include action and different sword fighting techniques. also Bleach and Gamaran have strong main character. the art is also similar.

Both stories is about a samurai trying to become the number one swordsman in all of the land.

Both are about different martial-art styles, martial-arts schools fighting for the title of the strongest and revenge.

Both contain a lot of fighting(Action) None are afraid to show gory deaths. AgK a bit more dark and emotional perhaps. MC's are alike.

Okay, maybe this recommendation is kinda miss. But trust me, they have similar theme, and it's about science. Yes, science. If Liar Game is talking about psychology (how to deceive and pull off a trick using people's thought) then Gamaran is about how martial arts somehow can be related to logic, and if you think about it, some of the 'fighting tricks' was based on psychics (like Gama's Shidensen that takes advantage of gravitational force, etc. Check other tricks later if you read it) Yeah, maybe its kinda weird and forced to relate these manga, but actually they really have that kind of relation.

To exact revenge on the person who abandoned them for a long time, that is the sole reason why Gama and Burn brothers continue on living.

Although Gamaran has just a little bit of "gore", both are Shonen mangas. They fight with different, weapons, and in Shaman King there is Supernatural involved, but if you like one of them you'll likely like the other too.

Both focus on martial arts, most specifically sword fighting and both Mc has to fight a lot strong enemies to reach their goals. Both Mc fight to aid a royalty and the stories are set way back in time. It's not always easy to tell who is good or bad. Very similar feeling to both manga and both pay good attention to details in the story.

both mangas revolve around martial artists and feature a lot of fighting with swords and other weapons. the art is amazing in both, and the fighting is portraied perfectly. gamaran is more straightforward and simple, while jigokuraku has a more comlex and intricate storyline; overall two amazing reads!

Both revolve around swordsmen and the use of sword ability and techniques, the first one is set in a fantasy world while gamaran is set in a pseudo historic japan

Both this mangas are in my opinion incredibly underrated. While red is set in the United States and tells an unconventional tale of indians and cowboys, featuring all the major characters of the classic western movies, Gamaran is set in a more "traditional" Japanese world. Both have quite a big deal of graphic violence and are focused on fighting, but in both cases the backstory is magistrally developed and the art is just perfect. Moreover, the MC's are amazingly written and designed, and same goes for the villains. In both mangas the MC has to face always stronger enemies to get to the final challenge read more

- Both are nonstop action MMA manga - Their art-syle, characters designs & battle choreography are very similar to each other

Both series' setting takes place in a historical era where the main character is part of an adventure with shounen themes. Their journey takes them to new places as they encounter new friends and enemies. There's plenty of action with some unorthodox fighting tactics present in both series as well. Itsuwaribito◆Utsuho◆ is also known for some slightly darker themes later on in the story.

Despite taking place in different settings, The Breaker and Gamaran shares a variety of similarities. Both series' main male protagonist strives to earn other people's respect as well as making a name of themselves in their world. As thus, both series adapts martial arts in its purest form. In fact, both series creatively present action through brutal means. Both series also focuses on characterization to flesh out the the most noticeable skilled fighters. The main protagonist faces these fighters to prove his worth.

Both is about a guy enter a tourment to see whose the strongest

Both mangas have a lot of great fights, where you can see each fighter using special moves and analysing in depth the fighting tactics used in the fights. The main character in Gamaran looks similar to Naruto but is much more violent, the fights in Gamaran are a bit more realistic and graphic than in Naruto. If you liked Naruto and are ready for the next level of violence then you might enjoy Gamaran a lot. If you liked Gamaran and you haven't tried Naruto then check it out, there's a reason Naruto is so popular: it is quite good!

Samurai and Samurai and quite alike hair of main characters.

Quite similar; both stories are centered around young males with spiky, white hair, wielding swords. Of course, they are great swordsmen as well, striving to literally surpass their respective parent in more ways than one. The stories both feature plenty of duels where the characters use unique weaponry and various skills/techniques. Not to mention lots of blood and some mild gore to go along.
reportRecommended by AfterGlow
In terms of combat, if not fanservice, the two go hand in hand. Crisp, realistic, and diverse action that gets absolutely brutal at times, you should be able to enjoy one if you enjoyed the other.

These 2 mangas are by right, fundamentally different, but carry similar traits. Similar: Both the main characters have this initial introduction of one that has overcomed many obstacles and opponents, then they start on a journey due to some reasons, and start facing more powerful opponents at a high risk. They are very shounen-ish and reminds me of One Piece. The main guy character's design is kinda similar too. Different: Shokugeki is a cooking manga with a side focus on ecchi while Gamaran is a samurai manga focusing on sword techniques, combat instincts and the like, and has consideable gore.

Follow both of these series if you hold a strong interest in sword-fighting. Do note however that Gamaran has a historical setting, whereas Haru Polish is set in modern times. As such, Gamaran has "real" combat.

Despite being set in different time periods, the central premise of these two series revolve around sword-fighting.

They both involve sword fighting and the techniques from Gamaran remind me of Rurouni Kenshin. They both have their own certain fighting style. Trust me if you liked Kenshin you're 100% going to like Gamaran it's going to be the next best thing.

Both manga revolve around traditional Japanese history, mostly to do with samurais and both main characters striving to be the strongest. Both series focus heavily on deep bonds of friendship and how these bonds help them move on throughout the series. Gamaran is more straight forward shounen with one goal right from the start, whereas Samurai Deeper Kyo is more complex, involving the connecting of mysteries to unravel the ultimate truth. Samurai Deeper Kyo also has more of a gender balance, and requires about 10 chapters of reading into the story to actually kick off however.
