Synopsis

The day 18-year-old Laliette Isabelle De Bellua died is forever etched in her mind. Her entire family already six feet under on false charges of treason, she is sent to the gallows with her sentence being handed down by the tyrannical Emperor Rupert Edgar Laspe Vellelum. In contrast to his ethereal beauty, he has bathed himself in blood; not even his wife was free from the carnage, falling victim to his hand on their wedding night.

After meeting her end, Laliette awakens in the past on her 12th birthday. Despite having knowledge of the grim future, the only way she can think of to save her beloved family is to endear herself to the bloodthirsty Rupert before his rise to power. There is only one problem: Rupert is currently living as a woman—the oft-forgotten "Princess Rapertte," whom no one wants to serve. With little in her pocket, Laliette runs away from home to pledge herself to Rapertte, hoping to one day earn the princess's trust and save the people she treasures.

Absolutely beautiful. That's the only way I could ever describe a manhwa like this.

TL;DR: I've never read something like this. A rollercoaster of emotions and characters that ensure you continue to read. A truly talented writer that never fails to amaze readers like us. If you don't like the first few chapters, try and give it a shot! I hope it'll end up appealing to you in the end.

For such great art and a deceiving cover, it's not like this at all. Both of our main characters have trauma and severely suffer from it. So many misunderstandings that aren't little, but big. It's full of ...

art is gorgeous, and every character has a lot going on behind their sparkly eyes. this is one you really read for the plot. there are really complex dynamics at play, the two leads both distrust each other for good reasons. the character growth is really interesting both mentally and physically, and it's great to watch two smart characters balance distrusting each other and growing closer. quite dark at times, definitely not a fluffy read. everything achieved is a struggle. but definitely interesting, again, the motivations are COMPLEX and it is extremely fun to watch everything be explained. if you want a good psychological read, ...

THE ART STYLE IS SO DECEPTIVE,
For a manwha with such a cutesy cover, its dark as fuck. These 14-15 year olds have LIFETIMES of trauma. For a taste of how messed up this manwha is, read Eva's (Genevieve) character description. The plot is really dense and heavy, for a regressor, Lali is extremely in the dark- she knows next to nothing but that really isn't her fault as she had been intentionally left in the dark about everything.

One of the best parts of this manwha is the characters, EVERYONE has a backstory and has some depth to them- there are clear driving forces behind ... their actions, even if they are dicks, I can understand their actions and how their backstory sort of justifies their actions? Like, none of the characters actions are motivated by shallow reasons like the jealous rival tropes in other manwha. One character I think is well written is Riche, a "friend" who gets exposed as fake as fuck, went from being upset about not having rights as a woman and treated as a pawn by her father to adopting her father's misogynistic views and Lali calls her out on it. She really was a product of her environment. Another thing, Riche IS a jealous rival but its not explicitly shown, you can infer that her hate towards Lali comes from having everything she doesnt- a happy family, freedom, and the ability to choose her own future. Riche is forced to play the perfect daughter and to hide her feelings by her father, in comparison, Lali has everything she wants, and it mustve been torturous being forced to pretend to be her friend. On the surface though, Riche acts agonistic towards Lali for mainly another reason, which I guess I wont spoil cause its a pretty big spoiler.

I think another thing this manwha did really well was how Lali's emotions are expressed. Shes all nice and kind on the surface but hates Rupert to the point of contemplating homicide, and when Rupert's upbringing is revealed, she still holds resentment towards him even if she pities him and doesn't immediately forgive him. and that feels refreshing in a shoujo, the characters organically and slowly develop their feelings for each other.

One thing you will soon find out is that there is nobody you can trust EXCEPT RUPERT, and that fact is still hilarious to me, Ive been lulled into a false sence of security so many times. Spoilers: The aunt. The aunt did the biggest 180. Like we see her with her husband the grand duke, and wow theyre so lovey dovey, she kisses him, and he holds her hand, yadda yadda PDA. Lali wasnts to steals some document from the duke and the aunts like oh, I dont care if you want to open the large vault, the password is his beloved (referring to herself). Oh thats weird, her name doesnt work... hmm... S-L-U- *click*
That was when I knew I couldnt trust anyone AND I STILL GOT GOT IN THE NEXT SEASON
