This story was...not the best. There really isn't anything that helps it standout; besides its pretty art style. While I did like that the story took time to establish the blooming chemistry between Yoichi and Tsugumo, there really wasn't a lot done with them. We really just saw a mentor that was trying to teach his protégé to eventually replace him as protector of the mountains. But, I'll admit that the parts with drama and tragedy were very entertaining, and did help with the story.
And I guess how Tsugumo was falling in love with Yoichi, also did help the story a bit. And the final
...
chapter where Yoichi chose to remain by Tsugumo's side was quite touching. But there just wasn't nearly enough intimate moments between the two of them. And also, it was pretty censored - which is never fun. If it was a bit more intimate, and if it worked on a bit more with the romance, I think it could have been better (in my book).
I don't know if other people will like it, but I suppose they should at least give it a chance.
