Synopsis

Haru and Hii-chan are two young women in college buckling under the weight of adult responsibilities. Getting into university, then job hunting, then preparing for careers after graduation–it's what they're expected to do, because that's what "everyone" does, but what do they really want for themselves? Finally, Haru and Hii-chan decide to take life into their own hands, toss their resumes into the sea, and move to an island together! They soon find that island living isn't all blue skies and breezing through sunny days...but whatever the future holds, they can face it together.

First I should say that Throw Away the Suit Together is a manga that goes the realistic route, there is no fairytale happily ever after where everything is perfect. If you are looking for a solely cute slice of life in the sticks, then this work is probably not for you.

Just because something is 'more realistic' doesn't necessarily mean it's good; a story needs to be interesting as well. A story about a NEET spending the entire day at home doing absolutely nothing would be realistic but not very enjoyable to follow. The idea of the girls needing to return to reality, especially after a somewhat impulsive decision, is good. However, with the rushed ending, it seems like nothing that happened mattered. What began as a very sweet and heartwarming story of two women seeking a life that would make them happy ended in a very cynical admittance that trying to escape the structures of society is impossible. There is a difference between acknowledging reality and accepting the worst version of it, but Throw Away the Suit Together doesn't seem to understand that.
