Synopsis

A boy and a girl pledge lifelong friendship in a small town junior high school. The relationship between the two, who are destined to share a common dream, has passed two years without any particular development.

Himari Inuzuka, a bubbly girl who has yet to find her first love, and Yuu Natsume, a plant-loving boy who enjoys flowers, still spend their days peacefully as best friends in the gardening club in the second year of high school.

"If Yuu can't get married, I have to take responsibility."

So I picked up this manga after watching 3 episodes of the anime as I got really curious, one thing I'll say is that it's a messy rom-com.
We have our protonist Yuu Natsume who loves flowers and make accessories inspired by flowers, Himari Inuzuka who's been his best friend since middle-school and Rion Enomoto who loves the accessories Yuu makes.

I'll try to spoil as little as possible.
The main focus is Yuu and Hinata is running their business in high school with making and selling accessories while being best friends, Hinata proposed that they'd open a shop together and run it and if they're both single ...

As a wise man once said, “A male and girl friendship can’t hold up unless one of you is f*cking ugly.” Anyways, getting that off my chest, this manga seriously should issue a PTSD warning, as the fmc is every school’s “I have a ton of male friends who I play with for fun, and all of the girls hate me” type of girl — in other words, she’s insanely annoying and unlikable.

Apart from her, the male mc is rather refreshing due to his rather unique passion, and the other fmc, who shall not be named, is mildly annoying, but she’s basically an angel ...

I have to question the mental state of anyone who recommends this manga.

I only read this because i was told i might like the drama. I do in fact like a few drama mangas (Kono Oto Tomare, Married Couple But Not Lovers, Ao Haru Ride,etc.) but this might be the single worst attempt at introducing drama into any story i have ever read. Scratch that. It might be the single worst manga i have read period. The start of the manga is very box standard. Loner (excuse for being a pussy) boy and hyper-active teasing girl who hangs out with him for no reason. I'll ... refer to her as girl A. The MC is into making flower accessories and the girl is good at marketing them for female customers. Okay. I've seen partnerships built on less, whatever. The first big issue i have is with the banter.

Personally i don't find the teasing romcom subgenre all that interesting, but there's a fine line between teasing and taunting. Girl A constantly puts down the MC and how he's basically a waste of space without her. To be honest she might be right. The MC has no backbone or drive outside of his flower obsession. She says jump, he says how high. She says "Wanna try kissing with me?" "Only look at me" and he's all "yes ma'am". The dude has to be top 3 most bitch made MCs i think i've ever read.

But next we get introduced to other characters like his popular male buddy (of course) and the beautiful girl who will be girl B that he met once when he was a kid (of fucking course) and they are no less generic. The male buddy is the childhood friend of girl B and so it gives the expectation of a developing love pentagon, although it hasn't fully materialized yet. Other than that his friend has zero qualities to him besides "looking good". Girl B however is a tsundere. For no reason. At all. She is hostile and aggresive towards the MC and it's never addressed or explored why besides the off-hand comment here or there. Her tune changes when she breaks her flower accessory that means a lot to her and has MC repair it for her. She even starts to berate him while he's fixing the accessory for her because of her embarrasment from falling out of a chair. Her clumsyness is why it was broke. I hate these characters by the way. As you'd expect the MC is the perfect punching bag and probably likes being talked down to.

Now up until chapter 21, it was bearable enough to scroll through. At chapter 22 onwards, it is not.

The MCs flower accessory business needs promoting and he gets the girl A to do it usually through instagram. However girl A suggest using girl B to promote his business as well for a fresh perspective, all sounds good. Up until the MC himself suggest using girl B more permanently alongside girl A. This does not make her happy and she's not used to the MC defying her. She loses her cool and poors a drink on him, "Let's stop being friends" she says. Good. She was too needy and possesive of the MC anyways, almost everyone thinks they're a couple. And this is the real kicker. Instead of actually cutting ties with that toxic parasite, he MESSAGES HER "Why are you dissatisfied with me?". BROTHER. She just poured a fucking drink on you for including other people in YOUR business. It continues to go downhill from here. Constant manipulation from her, justification that proves his male buddy is toxic as well. I have to give girl B this, she seems to be the only person in this story who can and will stand up to girl A without hesitation. That i did like. Other than that though it spirals further into self loathing and masochistic tendencies. MC is slapped, pushed, accosted by classmates, reprimanded by teachers, all from the doing of girl A. Again, bitch made.

If you think this is a good manga i no joke would seriously question your mental faculties. The story is bland even without the drama and negatives, the art and character design is medicore, the characters are so poorly written it evokes Poe's Law (when you're not sure if something is parody/satirical or serious) because no way someone actually sat down to craft such unintelligent and tropy characters. I would rather re-read Rent-A-Girlfriend from chapter 1 to current and i'm so serious it's not even funny.
