This hate review starts by saying that it started out decent... initially. I'd even go as far to say this had the potential of becoming an amazing low fantasy.
The story first presents itself as something realistic, gritty, but never grimdark. It's MC, Jean, is reincarnated into the story with no cheat skills, and no knowledge enough to leverage him into a higher position in society. The only thing he has is perseverance, training, and knowledge. Making Jean just about one of their more reliable adventurers in their city. And at the get go, this story presents that as nothing more than a liability in this
...
story's continental dungeon. Why? It's cause the monsters here are as smart as the humans. And they're not taking it lightly to the humans who've come to invade their continent. A lot of whom have their own language, and scarily enough, knows the human's tongue as well.
But again, this is a low fantasy without any modern technology. And though anyone could wield swords, bows, and shields, without experience in that art of dungeon diving, that experience is as useful as skydiving without a parachute. Information on different monsters here are obviously written in blood. Tactics like scouting are the difference between a wipe out and potentially only losing a member. Different equipment need to be given to different types of people after factoring muscle weight, weapons, and even gender. All of which are given painstaking detail that could either make or break your immersion of the story.
Sounds interesting? Now here's the thing, the women here are often treated as lesser equals in the world of dungeon diving. And at first, its reasoning were plausible? The dungeon can be stressful, so z-ranks (basically prostitutes) are often invited into parties for "stress relief" and are given their fare share of resources. This is fine, its their job, why not? Women often aren't as physically dominant as their men so while exceptions do exist, they are often seen as lesser needed in a job where people often have to carry their injured teammates out of danger. Sure, it makes sense. But then it's revealed that women wear feminine armor to signify to goblins and orcs that they shouldn't be killed and instead be r*ped until they either escape or are rescued... sure. That was weird, but this story is borderline grimdark.
But then it starts hammering things like that into the story... a little too much. Let's describe in escalation.
A band of women who were inspired by the created of one of the female leads, wants to form an all womens party. The women's party is naive for sure, but the author has already made this point countless times. So, why?
There's this powerful, very respected woman who was described as "nearing expiration date" cause she hasn't fricked a guy, or made moves on her crush, in her mid 20's. Chuck it up to cultural differences, sure.
Holy women who think they're being given a child by god, are actually assaulted in their sleep by unseen being. it's even revealed that there's a history where Holy Battle Maidens or something were just prostitutes and was recently changed cause one of the women is genuinely powerful... again, why?
At one point, the story gains a recurring POV of women who were enslaved, captured, and assaulted by goblins. One of them even gets sent into what can only be described as forced prostitution homes. And its answer to the character? "She should've been grateful to be alive. You are in war, you got captured, thus this is right. You are insane for thinking otherwise, they could've treated you more horribly." And the women who accept it? They're correct and very happy to be raising goblins in their goblin homeland.
...heck nah.
It's softcore p*rn, sure, but the story seems find every excuse to sexualize them even to the point of sexism. The story seems to be building up to a monster vs human war, but the way to it is frankly disgusting.
Tl;dr, the story is presents is interesting, but if you don't want to see gRape being justified in their world building, don't even think of touching this manga. And if you don't care for the gRape, touch it. See if you find its world building unique. But as for me? I'm dropping it.
