Synopsis

In the present era, adventurers, demons, heroes, and demon lord, are no longer occupations that put one's lives at stake. With the world at peace, it is an era where conquering dungeons has been transformed into entertainment. Adventurers and monsters are able to fight with a substitute body made of magic, popularizing dungeon conquests with no deaths. Having lost his job, the "Black Mage" Remme struggled with finding another party until one day a beautiful woman appeared before him telling she had a job for him.

In a world where adventures are nothing more than entertainment and heroes are only as good as they are flashy, the most important players sometimes get ignored simply for being quiet.

With the exception of his best friend, everyone thinks that our main character should be replaced until it reaches a breaking point, when his perceived worth snaps and he quits.

And so he leaves, and breaks his closest friendship in the process, resolving to join a new party and become even better then his old one.

This is a very convoluted setup for a manga. The whole thing is like a fake gladiator sport between Heroes and Demons. They talk about TV show ratings and online popularity like they are paid athletes, but they never actually explain who is paying them or why? Everyone trains in real life as if they are actually going to war, but then it's explained they are just video game avatars?
