I find myself returning to Hokuto Yamagishi's "Wild" series for a number of reasons: the beautiful art, the lore, the fascinating characters. However, out of the three, "Wild Wind" stands out through offering a solid foundation upon which the other two are built.
Chronologically, "Wild Wind" is a prequel to both "Wild Fangs" and "Wild Rose"; while the latter two revolve around the same characters, "Wild Wind" focuses on new ones, what manbeasts are, and how they came to exist in the story's universe. In that respect, you can read "Wind" as a standalone story.
The highlight, for me, is the main couple's relationship, which moves at

a steady, enjoyable pace. There is time to see Olgrius and Shui get used to each other and the world around them, with a few cute and sexy moments now and then. The mangaka does a wonderful job of conveying emotion through her art, and the level of detail put into the expressions and backgrounds making this a delight to look at. As for the story, it had a very satisfying resolution; I would have liked to see Shui getting more development but, since the story is more focused on Olgrius and is fairly short, it stands to reason that not everyone is given the same depth of character.
All in all, I would absolutely recommend this if you're looking for a fantasy BL story with good characters, art, lore and romance. It's a story I like to revisit occasionally, and every time I fall more in love with it.
