/!\ SPOILER FREE UNTIL THE BOTTOM /!\
Would you rather have your infatuation fulfilled, even fully knowing it is a lie, or would you rather cheer for their happiness, watching from the sidelines as you are being consumed by the flames of unrequited love?
This is, essentially, a dramatic romance about heartbreak, though it is not quite dark as it could be. There are sprinkles of comedy here and there, and the vampirism feels like a plot device more than anything. It sure was entertaining, but the reader should go in expecting a school life story with a supernatural twist added to it—that does make it more

interesting!
What sets this series apart is probably the characters, mainly the protagonist.
I was led to believe at some point that the main character was what we could call a masochist, a cuck, as well as a simp. Though it may be an exaggeration, he does look absolutely dashing while doing it. He sticks to his principles, cherishing what is dear to him, and watching the story unfolds through his eyes makes you absolutely want to root for him, whether you relate or not.
The other characters are well developed too, with backstories to boot, and I could not hate anyone by the end. That said, I am delighted by how the author portrays the love rival as an actually likeable person—that is quite rare! It also makes the protagonist's struggles even more painfully compelling.
I should probably talk about the love interest, which may be on the weaker part of the cast, in my opinion. Her thought process is a little strange at times, and one may even consider her undeserving of the protagonist. No matter how true that is, I do think she is still very likeable, and she also makes for a ton of cute expressions—actually, every character does, even the male (?) characters.
That segues nicely into the art, which is top tier, in my opinion. I have no complaints whatsoever, and it is pleasant to read, the protagonist looks glorious!
The ending may be a wee bit rushed, but it is satisfactory overall. Please do read if you like those kind of romances.
################ ENDING SPOILERS ################
I do not have too many complaints about the ending as it fulfills my #1 requirement being it ending on a happy and unambiguous note.
That said, it could have been a little more satisfying, in my opinion.
Be it the fact that they had to separate for ten years, or the fact that we could not see them going out, or the fact that she never actually told him that she loves him (!), I do wish there could have been something a little more rewarding to see after navigating through four volumes of crushing unrequited feelings.
At any rate, after waiting for ten years for the protagonist's return, it is safe to say that they will be together hereafter and forev—well, until the main character's vampire lifespan inevitably surpasses the other party's lifespan. But that is a story for another time...
