Synopsis

Souta Matsubayashi is seen by his classmates as a gruff delinquent; in contrast, Sakura Miyazen is viewed as a beautiful princess. From their appearances, it may seem like they have nothing in common. However, with the polar opposites beginning the school year in the same class, the two both want to get closer to each other, but their nerves get in the way when trying to start conversations.

One thing they mutually share is their love for yakuza movies. Miyazen tries to get through to Matsubayashi by referencing these films, yet Matsubayashi misinterprets her intentions in the most embarrassing of ways instead. As the two awkward teens stumble their way through every conversation, a blossoming friendship seems more probable than ever.

Background

Ochikazuki ni Naritai Miyazen-san began as a web comic on the author's Twitter account on April 4, 2019, under the title Ochikazuki ni Naritai Manga. The first volume containing the web chapters with extras was released by Square Enix on February 22, 2020, and serialization began in Gangan Joker on the same day.

The series was published in English as Miss Miyazen Would Love to Get Closer to You by Kodansha USA under the Vertical Comics imprint from September 27, 2022, to May 23, 2023.

I'm not sure that I can say this manga did anything particularly phenomenal. BUT...when I decided to read it, I was just looking for something cute, wholesome, and with relatively low text density. I basically wanted a quick, relaxing read to take a break from some of the more adventurous titles I've been getting into. And this manga did its job well for my tastes! So much so that I binged all 62 chapters. For the record, some chapters are only 4 pages long, so it really is a quick easy read.

This is a really good romcom that I would recommend to any enjoyer of the genre. It's a lot of fluff and there is like 0 drama so if you want some spice or something then this is not for you I guess. Anyways, the series focuses on a prim and proper girl(not really but that's how ml describes here) and a delinquent boy(but not really), and they have differing interests but are both interested in each other and try to get closer to each other. Heads up, there's 30 chapters so if you're reading on a source that only says there's 19 it's sorely mistaken. (as of right now of course)

I know there is a fanbase for this but I'm not sure how big and I don't really know if it deserves a ginormous one. In essence, the main part of this manga is two people who don't know that the other loves them, a simple premise and the main thing that sets them apart is that they are complete opposites in terms of character.
