At the tim e of writing this review there are only two "Not Recommended" ones. Because of that I decided to write my own review to level the playing grounds a bit. Right from the start, if you have not read the prequel manga titled Dokumushi or if you did not like the prequel, I DO NOT recommend reading this manga. There is more gore, more nudity, sexual assault and more trauma.
Out of all 9 characters I could sympathize with only one of them, Agnes, which incidentally is sort of the POV character for most of the story. Unfortunately, as it is with Dokumushi, all
...
characters are either monsters or will become one. Unlikeable characters are the crutch of this series, so I cannot really blame the author for making them, but I feel this aspect was done better in the original Dokumushi.
The story has some interesting twists, but apart from the last volume, it mostly boils down to the true nature of the characters, so you can hate them even more.
Although it is often vulgar, I like the art-style. Its details and characters are on point, sometimes on the verge of realism, which makes some of the gruesome scenes especially hard to read. Unfortunately not even good art-style can save some manga...
In summary, unless you liked the first manga and want more or have a perverted tastes, you will most likely not enjoy this manga. I'm still not sure if I can say I enjoyed reading it myself. Main problem is I read it while it was still being translated, so there were month long gaps between some chapters. That led to me not remembering some plot-points and overall higher disinterest in the story. If you were to ask me, if I would read it again, without hesitation, the answer would be: No.
