I'm just going to tell you right off the bat that you should read this manga.
Our main character Mashiro Oto is mute and has just transferred into a new school. She gained lots of attractions at first, but the people around her soon found it inconvenient talking with her as she replied to their greetings using a sketchbook. She is then left alone and kept thinking that it's her fault. Sitting right next to her is the unfriendly looking girl called Kokosaki Kikuno, and she has been listening to Mashiro's thought for the past week and is feeling down due to the negativities festering

in Mashiro's mind. Long story short, the two become friends.
What I like the most from this manga is not its art. To put it bluntly, the art is not the greatest. The greatest thing that ever comes out of this manga is its characters. Imagine how inconvenient it is for you to write an answer/reply on your sketchbook every time someone asks you something simple, like what you had for breakfast, did you go anywhere during the weekend etc. Very, inconvenient. What I'm trying to say is, Mashiro does her best to interact with the people around her but never has enough time to react to anything. So usually, she just writes very casual replies which makes her seem not interested in the topic or just gives up writing anything altogether. There's just so much she wants to put into 'words' but can't due to her condition, and Kokosaki knows this the most. She knows Mashiro wants to express herself more, to be more opened to other people, and have a 'conversation' with everyone around her, so using her ability to 'hear' people's thoughts, she 'listens' to what Mashiro 'has to say'. Seeing Kokosaki helping Mashiro from the shadow, pretending to be oblivious to Mashiro's intention puts a big smile on my face.
This manga is very enjoyable and each chapter is short (9-11 pages), so it's great even if you don't have much time for reading. All in all, I suggest you to read this manga.
