It's a gory/action packed zombie horror that explores some gritty and harsh themes of what evil people are capable of in an apocalypse, as well as the mentality of self redemption found in those who are able to retain even the smallest ounce of their humanity. The plot just cuts right to the point and honestly, this left me wanting to discover more about the world and characters that it briefly tried to build over the course of just two books. You only catch a glimpse of everybody you come across, but its just enough to establish them fairly. It also concludes on a bittersweet/cliffhanger

type ending that leaves you wondering instead of feeling satisfied, because it reveals a light at the end of the tunnel that you never quite get to see. Quick, but still a nice read if you're entertained by violent fights and zombies.
