Synopsis

Riko, a twenty-nine-year-old office worker with an obsession for video games, finds her quiet life upended when she takes in a stray cat! Her coworkers can't quite figure her out—she never talks about her personal life, she never works overtime, and she never joins them for happy hour. Is she antisocial? Nope, she's rushing home to play video games! One day, a stray cat is found in the office parking lot, and before Riko knows it, the cat has moved in with her! Having no experience with pets, Riko uses lessons drawn from video games to guide her in cat care, while her cute companion tries to understand her behavior through a cat's worldview.

The manga begins with Riko, a young office worker who is appreciated at work for her diligence. However, she never works overtime and never hangs out with her co-workers. Indeed, she hides a secret: she simply can't imagine spending her free time on anything else than games, especially games akin to Monster Hunter or Dragon Quest, as well as MMORPG and gacha mobile games. Her brain is 100% wired with games.

Yes, it’s a gag manga — but so is Frieren, and like that series, Cat + Gamer manages to be both funny and emotionally engaging. Saw the manga in a physical store and was intrigued. I'd read a good cat/human relationship manga and seen an anime of another one and thought why not.

The more you read of Volume 2 to 7 (dso far for me). The more you do notice the game logic, caring for the cats and understanding their needs, work lofe balance for her even if most scenes qre her at home wotj ghr cats and lessons or details in her life. Around volume 7 is work from home but otherwise you get a good mix of her perspective, cat perspective in bonus scenes ...
