The incongruous premise includes one millionaire parasitologist, one conscientious doctor and a manipulative high ranking government official who combine their forces to investigate suspicious incidents related to parasites (after all, how common can a murder through deliberate parasite contamination be?!) but soon it becomes clear that the trio investigates not just murders but all of the cases of negligence and corruption in the medicine and wellness field. This also explains why the reader is supposed to care about shenanigans of small branch of government. Tetsu along with his assistant a former doctor Haruma Takaie who left medical practice because of missinformation, corruption, and profit ... over lives attitude of the medical society. He is often the voice of reason for Tetsu and keeps him in check.. he is often the straight man and the funny man and Rei Asato who works for a government agency that investigates medical cases. She is persistent, manipulative, and will do anything to bring corruptions and truth to light and save people from medical malpractice. She deeply cares about her friends Tetsu and Haruma. She is also a single mother with sickly daughter.

Together they solve medical cases and saves lives. They stop pandemics, uncover secrets of big pharmaceutical companies, discovers new pathogens that can cause breakout and stop them.

Rei investigates strange deaths and cases in hospitals and brings the reports to Tetsu and Haruma convinces Tetsu to help..

Best time to read it was during the pandemic we were having, gives an inside information as to how a group works to make vaccines, safe medicine, investigation and research that goes into stoping deadly diseases and keeping us safe and another group of people (politicians and bureaucrats, billionaires corporates) who screws up trying to hide them for profit, money and reputation.
