Synopsis

With his first year of high school on the horizon, Namito Taira planned to make the most out of this new period of his life. But what he did not account for was that he would be sitting next to Youko Furi, a blonde girl possessing all the characteristics of a delinquent. Thus, upon meeting her, a single glare from Furi immediately struck fear into his heart.

However, contrary to Taira's beliefs, Furi is a sweet and adorable girl—with a big crush on him! Even so, every interaction between them ends with misunderstanding, and Taira continues to believe that Furi is nothing but a delinquent. Regardless, the time shared between Taira and Furi never fails to be lovely, leading the pair on the path toward a wholesome relationship.

Preliminary (16/? chp)
It's not exactly a 'fresh take', but it almost feels like one.

The whole misunderstood-delinquent relationship shtick might be getting close to being overused, if not already, but Tonari no Furi-san ga Tonikaku Kowai's execution of the cliché is nonetheless one that deserves at least some praise.

As far as the storyline and the characters that populate it go, there's not really any need for an introduction beyond the brief synopsis. But unlike many others that revolve around a similar premise, this manga crafts these aspects in a way that avoids becoming annoying and even intolerable, and if anything, that's a great plus.

The easy-on-the-eye art only adds ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (31/? chp)
After reading the just released chapter 31 I decided to write a more recent review. I will mainly focus on Furi, the romance and mental bullying subplot.

Furi is indeed scary - for the first few chapters that is. The shtick is not necessarily overused but in this mangas case it has no deeper meaning at all and functions as a shallow way to get the story going. But that's okay, I guess.

The mentioned story is pretty much mainly Taira being scared of Furi. All other characters are too, but after interacting with Furi once they are over it and she is just another classmate. Apart ...

Preliminary (18/? chp)
A cute, well executed, lighthearted misunderstood-delinquent love story in a sea of bland stories with the same premise.

The young adventure of trying to figure out each others feelings and all the anxiety that comes with it. I like that the characters arent amebas when it comes to relationships. The misunderstandings aren't there just to keep us in the limbo of not being sure about each others feelings and are being worked on, so that's always welcome

I wish that Furi would be a real delinquent, but that's not what the manga is about so Im not deducting anything because of it, but it would be more ...
