Synopsis

After several incidents during her childhood that involved bullying, 16-year-old Mei Tachibana decided that she did not need friends as they would only ever end up hurting her. She is the exact opposite of Yamato Kurosawa—the most popular boy at school. Having dated several girls in their year already, Yamato is a flirt who gets along with everyone he meets. Mei's aloof demeanor immediately catches Yamato's attention, who vows to become her friend no matter what.

After a tense situation where Yamato protects her from a stalker at night, Mei believes that she is developing feelings for him. Soon enough, the two teens find themselves in an unlikely relationship together, much to the dismay of Mei and her jealous classmates. As they grow closer, Mei will need to determine whether or not her affection is genuine and if she has the courage to say "I love you."

Honestly, in my opinion this is one of the best romances out there. If you watched the anime already and liked it, please read this. Because compared to this, the anime is nothing.

The story is about Mei Tachibana, a shy and introverted girl and her relationship with Yamato Kurosawa, a handsome and popular guy. That itself really is nothing new or exceptional. But it is really well made.

You get to accompany the characters all the way to their graduation, further focusing on Tachibanas insecurities and developing their relationship further. But it doesn't stop there. You actually also get to see (and more than just a read more

i first read this manga way back 2011 but dropped it after reading a few chapters. mainly because early on, they talk about sex all the time. having sex with different guys or different girls. and having this categorized as "smut" in a manga site i was reading it on, i thought this manga would be all about it. especially since Yamato would kiss Mei intensely everytime. it's just a matter of few more chapters before Mei gives in to Yamato. and they will have sex on every chapter after that. lol (my biggest mistake and i'm now guilty of thinking read more

Say i Love you is the story about a girl who is anti social to the point that she has no friends because of a singular event that happened when she was 5 years old. First year of highschool she suddenly gets boyfriend. The story is about her coming out of her shell. Becoming more mellow gaining friends and self confidence throughout the series. Now even though this sounds good its just kinda boring. Now I liked the cute moments that came with the MMC and FMC but its just so boring. There is little build up. No tension. Things just happen. Now the read more

This is my favorite Shoujo romance manga of all. No competition at all. This has the best story and characters of any shoujo story I ever read, and I didn't expect much from it's cliche premise, but it went above and beyond. This took these very overused character tropes and made them something new, something worth reading.

The story
The best part of the story was that it didn't shy away from some difficult topics, and it remained very real through out the start to end. Especially looking into Megumi's arc which is bittersweet as you see her grow from her downfalls. The characters don't read more
