TLDR; a really light-hearted well written and easy to read manga. There is nothing stressful or challenging about it. The conflicts are minor at best and are resolved with ease that contributes to the stop bond the two main characters share, whilst also inducing a slight sense of drama.

The story, characters and events are all representative and reflected in the art style incredibly well. It's solid, well drawn and really nice to flick through, one can enjoy the artwork casually by quickly flicking through each page or can derive pleasure by examining the panels further. It is the style that makes it so ... easy and enjoyable to read and the basic yet solid story that makes you want to read further.

The gender and sexuality side of things is explored in an interesting, yet very light hearted way, which again is incredibly pleasant to read. The fact that the main chanter decides to present themselves in that manor means very little, that is not the focus of the story. Having said that there is a nice exploration of that hardships that are felt by someone who might want to express themselves in that way, whilst still maintaining the light-hearted nature of the manga.

I could write a lot more about this work but I feel like I would be largely repeating myself. In summary I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. The ending is satisfying and the conflicts are enough to keep you hooked but not too much that make it challenging. It is a nice romantic slice of life manga that can be read quickly. I would recommend.

I want to start off this review commenting on the title on MAL since i heard complaints about it. "Genderless" is misunderstood by people going into this expecting a genderless character. The official English title is, "My Androgynous Boyfriend", which is more accurate for him personally. BUT to clear the misunderstanding, it was likely titled this due to a Japanese sub culture called "genderless fashion". Self explanatorily, its fashion with no gender and as he is androgynous appearing, and tends to gravitate towards stereotypically feminine clothing, this title makes sense.

SO if you're going into this manga expecting it to be about a non binary ... character, or something of the like, you will be disappointed. BUT if you are going into this expecting it to be about gender stereotypes and gender expression, then you should be delighted. Onto my review now, im sorry its long lol

I feel like there isn't enough discussion about gender expression. You don't need to be part of the LGBT to like fashion. Trans men are not men who like dresses, enough of that in anime. This is a straight male, who just likes what he likes and thats okay. In Japan, there are lots of heavy gender stereotypes, and for people out of the "norm" of that realm, they get called gay or transgender. It is wholesome to see a manga about it being okay to like what you like, no matter what your gender or sexuality is. You can express yourself however you want, as he does and other characters in this series do.

So far, this story hasnt been stressful. Not about the struggles of being different, its just been about acceptance. Characters being okay with him being him, and thats just plain wholesome. It touched my heart to see him being happy to be himself, to see his girlfriend and her family, okay with him too. Him being fashionable is nothing deep, and thats sweet to me. Maybe it will get darker and show him struggling at some point, but lots of people can relate to that so if it does get deep, i think that'll be realistic and growth for the story, If it goes through that development i'd rate it 9/10.

Meguru, so far hasn't stated that he's part of the gender umbrella, so im sure people can relate to wanting to have a partner who supports their expression despite their gender. Majority of the story is just the wholesome relationship between to the two and how much she loves/supports him. Wako, his girlfriend actually encourages him to be as cute and stereotypically feminine as he is.

If at some point in the story he does come out as part of the gender umbrella, then good for him, thats sweet too and i'm sure people will relate. BUT it definitely does not take away from the message about gender expressions/stereotypes, and acceptance towards oneself that this story presents. We need more manga about this and I am happy to read this. I hope my review helped and cleared some misunderstandings.

The title hereof is confusing many with the "genderless man"; it seems to be interpreted by many as "a man sans a gender identity" which is a contradictio in terminis. It should be noted that the /Japanese/ term "zyendāresu" is a /fashion/ term; it's a contemporary style of androgynous fashion in Japan.

That out of the way, many expected a series with a title like this to be about gender identities; it is absolutely not and never really mentioned; it's simply about a fashion model and his domestic partner and what their live is about. It seems to draw in fans by explicitly being about the ... fashion world of this new fashion style; and that's largely all it has going for it; there are some interesting social criticisms here and there on the fashion model world and culture in general but there's not a lot else going on except a slice of life series that's not particularly funny.

Very mediocre in my opinion but I saw many readers get really confused over the the title and saying that it was totally not what they expected it to be — so I'm making this review to clarify what one is to expect from this and what the meaning of "genderless" in the title is.
