Both are historical stories about people trying to continue to live their lives despite harrowing circumstances. Neither try to idealize or demonize people during war but humanize them.

Manga: Yunagi no Machi Sakura no Kuni
Written by the same mangaka, Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni and Yunagi no Machi Sakura no Kuni share some very observable similarities. Both are heartwarming slice-of-life stories about people who are making the best of the life they're left with due the second world war. While Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni takes place during the war, Yunagi no Machi takes place post war, after the nukes were dropped.
