"This manga is totes adorbs" - Marin, probably.

This might as well be called "Manic Pixie Dream Girl: The Manga", because this is what it essentially boils down to. A quiet unpopular guy with an unusual, somewhat feminine and old fashioned hobby is discovered by popular, attractive and permanently cheerful girl who helps him accept himself. He already had a crush on her, while she falls in love with him pretty early on in the manga.

Saying that, there is no way you can avoid ALL tropes. What then to do? There are 2 approaches to this which work best IMO. Either try to give the ...

This has been a really fun and overall enjoyable read. Marin and Gojo and their dynamic and development has grown. It was really shown in Gojo's individual development as a person aspiring to make Hina dolls the best he can, and also in his personality.

I think that if you read this for the romance mainly, some may be disappointed, as I do feel that it was like 60-70% Cosplay and other stuff and then the rest being the romance, but the manga didn't shy away from the romance. Although short and sweet, the last few chapters was a great ending to be had, although ...

Story: 7/10

The story is simple and that's all it needs to be. Girl has niche hobby, Guy has niche hobby, they find a connection that no one else can give and romance ensues. My one complaint with it is I feel it focuses a bit too much on the cosplay lifestyle rather than the romcom/slice of life for my liking but is a relatively minor as things go for me.

Characters: 7/10

I don't have many complaints with the characters, I enjoy Marin and Gojou and the side characters are fine, however the longer the story goes on I am loosing interest in them and wish ...

First of all, I want to say that this manga is very nice and sweet for both comedy or romance lovers and people who are interested in fashion design. So if you consider yourself flat, unresponsive and emotionless, I wouldn't recommend this manga.

Marin Kitagawa who loves sweet things and lives a rosy life. Some people want to be like her in life and some people want a girlfriend like her. In this part, we put ourselves in the shoes of Gojou Wakana, a young man whose only thing in life is to design dolls. We could title it something like “a young man who ...

I don't really like to leave reviews but decided to for this one as the score is kind of weird. The anime was surprisingly good despite what you may think from hearing the synopsis. With the anime being great though I decided to read the manga and I was very disappointed for the longest time as most of the chapters and arcs following the anime were extremely boring. The reason though that I would put the manga above a 6 is because the most recent arc as well as moments sprinkled through out are absolutely incredible. With that being said while the score is a ...

not a very good paced story, the ending was shit. at one point too many new characters got intoduced which was hard to keep up. the only good thing about this manga is marin and gojo tbh
the story started off good but who knows what happened down the line. the art is pretty good. i feel like marin's story was somewhat good but gojo's story was barely touched other than the backstory of why he's embarrassed of making dolls. his character shouldve had the chance to grow.
this is an enjoyable series to read....only the first few volumes that it. the latter ones have ...

I am not a huge fan of mangas but Sono Bisque Doll literally got me hooked.

I watched the first episode of its anime adaptation and it got me curious for the story, and here I am, waiting for the next volume and chapter.

At first glance, it is eye catching, the character design, the color palette of its covers, you'd think its just a show off, but it isn't after all. The story moves along a slow pace yet very immersive and enjoyable to the fact I lost my sense of time reading it overnight. There isn't really anything to make you hate it, unless you're ...

Am rlly happy this got adapted into an anime since I’ve been reading for years. Marin has been the carry of this manga and makes it so much better. Although mc can get pretty awkward the wholesome slice of life aspect is great. My only problem which isn’t even rlly a problem is how long it takes to update. All the characters are really wholesome and the girls are nice. Mc is very dense but gahdamn is he great at making the horrrniest costumes for cosplay. Overall, Marin is best girl and I would like an after-marriage-life chapter or full manga.

Yeah, it's a bafflingly terrible ending, but I don't think the rest was perfect either.

I'm glad the many manga I started following in my love-starved times are ending. It began with the normal guy, being coupled with somebody excessively opposite to them. The trope, of course. Awesome, wholesome, interesting, coming from the development of cosplay and what it entails. How our hobbies define us in front of the people around us. The crunch, balancing life with hobbies, and how jealousy comes from limelights you participated in, but can't prove you did without self-imposed selfishness. It started to become mature, true to life, and ...

Marin Kitagawa the Manga is a fun, charming, and educational (I presume?) slice of life/romance thing about which you probably already know about and have opinions. However, yours are most likely wrong. Therefore, buckle up and be enlightened by my insight, moved Shizuka-tan, awed by Black Lobelia, and fall to your knees before the glory of Haniel.

Thematically, this manga is primarily a slice of life and an informational about Japanese cosplaying with a dabble of romance and sprinkle of horny. This order is very important for maximizing enjoyment. If you need to switch the order, buy a Marin Kitagawa figurine and visit suspicious websites. However, ...

This really isn't special but it does what it tries really well.

The story is simple. A girl who wants to cosplay and a boy who can make outfits do to his experience in doll making. Simple yet interesting as their relationship goes from primarily business to them developing a relationship. Its ecchi but very wholesome at the same time.

The main girl Marin is eh. She's very likeable but and has a distinct personality but nothing to interesting or special. The main boy Gojou is a bit more 3 compelling. Due to his interest in doll making he was bullied when he was you and he's ...

I never thought I'd be reading something like this but after I started reading it, I got somehow hooked to the manga. This romance/slice of life is kind of my second/third because I usually don't watch/like much of the stuff in this genre due to either being too much on the harem or weird side but this manga really gave a comfy, relaxing, and enjoyable feel to me for me to be able to continue on and on.

Talking about the characters, the personality development of both the male mc and female mc has been quite good. I personally like the cheerful and positive personality of ...

Plot - Guy and girl both have fringe hobbies, one is popular, one isn't, girl (gal) asks guy to help with hobby, become friends, more?

I really enjoyed the cosplay and fashion aspect. I enjoy how there were explanations of terms at the end of the volume as well. I don't see why the mcs need to be in early high school - make them final years or in uni - especially as cosplay isn't a cheap hobby, it makes more sense. I think it's got a solid start, but after reading volume 1 I ...

This series started out with great potential and became a dumpster fire. Cosplay is only about 25% of the series. The other 75% is Marin endlessly swooning over Gojo. It was cute at first, then it got stale and sickening.

I'm reading for story and substance, not to see a girl gush over a guy all day.

A good romance story, in general, is like a business partnership. The male and female leads must be equally invested in the relationship for it to work. That's why we enjoy Oregairu, Bunny Girl Senpai, Horimiya, and others.

Dress Up Darling ignores all of that, and becomes the typical, ...

First of all I'd like to say that I understand why people like this. The drawing style was cute and the main characters are likeable.

ART 8/10
The art was solid. I like the way the characters are designed. I don't really have anything to say about it.

CHARACTERS 7/10
I personally thought that the story was interesting and I did like reading it. There wasn't really characters that I disliked. I enjoyed seeing the main characters getting closer.

ENJOYMENT 7/10
I liked it, what can I say.
