The Kodansha Manga Award (講談社漫画賞, Koudansha Manga Shou) is an annual award for serialized manga published in the previous year, the event is sponsored by the publisher Kodansha. It is currently awarded in three categories: shounen, shoujo, and general. The awards began in 1977, initially with categories for shounen and shoujo. The first award for the general category was in 1982, and the first children's category's award was in 2003. The children's category was merged into the shounen and shoujo categories starting in 2015.

I've been asked pretty frequently to recommend something, so I've created this stack.
This is my personal opinion on what's "a hidden gem". I think some of these considered "mildly" popular? If you read a lot of manga, you probably know some of these. I hope you do, haha.

Everything here I've either read or reading atm. None of those have an anime adapatation (OVAs and live-actions don't count).

Sometimes you encounter stories that can change your entire view on how you are living your life, what does death means and what is really important.

I don't say that it WILL happen after reading my choices. But it may.

Manga with a main character who's old. Like around 50+ years old. Feel free to give suggestions for additions.

Manga featuring protagonists who are 40 years of age or older.
