Both of the main characters have the ability to see spirits, and both of them meet, seemingly by accident, a girl who not only sees spirits but makes it her business to exorcise them.

Same author/artist. Only ch1 of Tokyo ESP has been released, but overall it looks similar to Ga-rei which was a very interesting series. I suggest checking out Ga-Rei first and if you like that check out Tokyo ESP.

Both male leads possess the ability to see the supernatural. Ga-Rei contains more action while xxxHolic is creepier and is about the main character getting pulled into supernatural matters.

Both involve supernatural elements of Japanese culture as plot driving force as well as a love story between protagonists being the undercurrent of the story.

Both are supernatural apocalyptic stories, where the main antagonists are those who wish to restructure the world.

The main premise of both of these titles revolve around organisations with the aim of removing evil spirits/demons. Fights in both titles not only feature the use of unique skills and abilities, but also generally involve a team of characters.

Both stories are about humans and demons. Sharing dialy life in peace or fighting. The main characters are both girls and they both work for an organisation that gets rid of demons or spirits.

because both are good ...haha oh wait there is 1 similar aspect in that girls can kick y ass just as hard as boys can ! I like that because the overwhelming downplay of woman/girls is embarresing

First few chapters give off a similar feel. Both stories involve an ordinary guy with some misfortune in his life and, one day, has a fateful encounter with a supernatural girl.

Both deal with spirits and the supernatural in a non-traditional manner, even though it's exorcists in Ga-Rei and shamans in Shaman King. Their fighting styles involve controlling the spirits directly. Both protagonists come from a powerful lineage in their respective trades, shouldering heavy responsibilities.

The starting point is quite similar since in both titles the MC is a girl who has to fight against monsters using a spirit sealed within her body. There is quite a bit of horror in both, with dismemberment pretty common in Ga-Rei and more "psychological" violence in HnA. The main differences can be found in the character design: Ga-Rei is more realistic than HnA but they both share a dark atmosphere in the whole design.

Shinrei Gakuen Koihenge gives off a Ga-Rei or Tokyo ESP vibe, likely due to similar art styles and spiritual themes of a female protag, a guy sidekick, and evil ghosts. SGK focuses more on romance (an assumption based on the first chapter), whereas Ga-Rei embodies action and adventure. Shoujo vs. Shounen!

These action-oriented titles follow members of an organisation that exorcises evil spirits.

Noob guy and Pro girl fighting off some badass monsters with the love in mind :P

In both of these shounen titles, we follow characters who work for an organisation specifically created to fight spirits/demons. Most of the characters have unique ways of fighting; and this is something that is also characteristic of both titles.

the similarities are endless seriously if you liked one check out the other both have a nice balance between comedy and action both have females fighting over the main character both have cute sidekicks they have similar art styles and are both great to read

In both stories the protagonists are considered ordinary and average, but with the exception that they can see something most other people can't. This special sight leads them into trouble with a female counterpart as they daily fight for their lives against supernatural forces.

Both are supernatural titles, with actual "kick-ass" girls. They focus in the japanese mitology "section", with lots of references to magic creatures, evil spirits, kitsune...

The main protagonists find themselves with spirtual powers among powers beasts and demons. Also meeting up with girls that have strong weapons and powers, a hint of romance between the main heroines.
