Synopsis

In broad daylight on the busy streets of Ikebukuro, a masked murderer goes on a rampage, slaughtering all who stand in his path—save for Madoka Murasaki, who stands frozen as he passes her by, leaving his lingering gaze emblazoned in her mind.

This killer, dubbed "M" by the police and media, haunts the memories of all who witnessed that bloody day; though he is now in confinement, the survivors hallucinate him at every turn in their daily lives. But when society fumbles to find the culprit behind a new series of bloody deaths, Madoka realizes that she has not just been imagining M's presence. Though his motivations are unknown, it is clear that this is the start of a twisted and ruthless culling of humanity.

Such an interesting concept for a villain! I've never heard the use of "bilocation" in the horror genre. I can suppose it's a lesser version of omnipresence, but still cool. Very gruesome. The looming presence of the serial killer causing Madoka to question her very reality was interesting to see. It surprised me when Madoka ends up adopting the morph's abilities and succumbs to her killing desires which have been hinted at before. This manga probably got canceled which depresses me; I can only hope it gets picked up again somehow. I would REALLY love to see how this ends... just for some closure.

This is my first review on this site so I thought that I could start of with something small like this particular manga called "Killing Morph".

Story: 4/10
The story revolves around a girl that gets haunted by a dude that kills people very violently and later even gains some strange superpowers for no real reason. Throughout the story tough she slowly grows more and more confident to overcome her fear and the rolls of hunter and prey get switched. I'm not really sure what the point of the story was. What started off as an interesting psychological thriller quickly turns into a sci-fi action. It felt like, a couple of chapters in, the mangaka did not know what to do with the story but had to continue it anyways to get a paycheck.

The core concept is really shallow and I was really dissapointed how Volume 1 ended and the trajectory of M and the heroine. There seemed to be a central mystery, but the story barely focused on it and got revealed in Volume 1 of a 4 volume series. The artist is no ...
