The Summer of You
Volume 1

Despite their differing popularity, high school students Chiharu Saeki and Wataru Toda are close friends. Saeki is the most handsome guy in their grade who constantly rejects girls that confess to him, claiming that he already likes someone. Bonding over their common hobby of watching movies, Saeki and Wataru go to the movie theater a couple of times a month, alternating between the movies they want to see.

One day, after watching a movie, Saeki confesses to Wataru but tells him that he does not have to accept or return his feelings. In exchange, Saeki requests that they go on a journey over the summer to tour the filming locations of various movies. Though Wataru tries to maintain a nonchalant disposition after the confession, he begins to question how he really feels about Saeki as they start to spend more time together through their small promise.

If you’re in the mood for a cute and fluffy BL, look no further. Kimi wa natsu is much like its warm summertime setting- you’ll feel like there’s sunshine warming the inside of your heart after reading it. The characters have a cordial, easy-going chemistry. The manga takes time to show how close their friendship is, making the development of their relationship seem very natural and believable. There is no forced drama. Read this when you feel like you need to cleanse your soul after reading shameless porn-without-plot yaoi. I would also recommend checking out the mangaka’s other works for more sweet fluff, especially “Hoshi read more

A cute and warm shounen ai manga that is healthy and believeable.

The story shows the main characters relationship start from friendship to evolve to something more. The story is not nonstereotyped and healthy, the characters are not forceful against each other. Knowing that in most of shounen ai the relationship is based on tension, this was refreshing where the characters listened to each other and openly stated that they were fine with just letting their feelings out.

The art is suitable, nothing too fancy but gives the emotion easily. It's easy to read and understand.

I recommend it for people looking for a nonstereotyped shounen ai read more

What starts off as a simple friendship between two moviegoers turns out into something more. If I could describe this manga in one word, it would be "warm".

I've read several yaoi manga recently, but deep down I'm a true sucker for romance, so this manga was right up my alley. What I loved about this manga, first and foremost, was the peaceful setting, realistic characters and believable interactions. It was just so calm and sweet. The characters act like real people- Wataru has his childish side, but he's sensible and easygoing. Saeki may at times feel mysterious, but he too is warm and caring. These read more

This is the only manga that made me cry like a baby, I'm writing this during my class and I'm crying just remembering how great it was. Highly recommended. I loved it because it was a story of discovery, he realized how much his friend liked him and how his heart started to race when he was thinking of him, to the point of crying because he wasn't there (a little manipulative if you ask, but-).

PS: This is everything, but MAL needs more text and I have nothing left to give, so I will be wirting "Harleys in Hawaii" from Katy Perry, enjoy and stream read more
