This will be my first review so forgive me if its bad.

As a fan of Initial D this caught my eye for a while but i decided to give it a read as my 2nd ever manga im actually commited to.

The story could use alot more improvement but i see a lot of potential for each character. It is also nice to hear about an old friend from back in the days and what happened to him.

Art on the cars and environment is amazing but the characters sometimes look really off and derpy so to say.

The story also takes an interesting concept of something that ... might happen one day with electric cars being produced and manufacturers like Tesla already making self driving cars the plot/story revolves around the fact that cars that run on fossil fuel might die out completly one day.

Honestly i enjoyed the story alot it brought back alot of the Initial D vibes and has gives me something interesting to do while im in school waiting for my next class to start. Mosty of the time theres always action going on so it keeps you interested.

Overall ill give this a 10 for now since im really hooked to the story so far and im looking forward to future chapters.

Ah this is getting an anime so I assume people will flock here to see what people think of it. Especially now that a new trailer has dropped.

This is my review as someone who has watched Initial D.

MF Ghost is the unofficial sequel of Initial D set in the same universe.

Story - 5

you see MF ghost's story is similar to Initial D but less believable. Initial D was strictly mountain racing just uphill or downhill but in MF Ghost you have circuit race in the mountains. Essentially you have an uphill and downhill and a long straight in between.

This circuit mechanic makes the racing ... less believable as our mc drives a 200hp gt86 and is going up against Lambos, Porsche, Ferrari, Gtr. In fact the cars don't make sense how does a gt86 and civic type r get into the same category as a Ferrari or Lambo.

And here our MC (yes I'll call him that) drives so good that he is able to overtake such cars. which is total bullshit. Maybe on the downhill he can beat them but there's no way a 200hp gt86 keeps up during the uphill and straights.

Still though if you want a racing manga then feel free to read mf ghost. The pacing is hella slow though as the sheer amount of characters means they all get their own arc during races.

and yes there is an argument to be made regarding the performance of the cars due to the regulations set by the events and yes supercars will struggle in mountain roads since they're not built for it but come on just the class difference and power alone makes it hard to believe.

Though I will applaud the variety of cars.

I'll be honest it's hard to distinguish certain cars from each other. With most modern cars running a curved look, they pretty much look like each other.

Character - 6

There is a lot of characters, some are more valuable than others but everyone gets screen time so yeah it's a mess.

Enjoyment - 6

"We Went motor racing" if you want a racing manga then read mf ghost, if you want a realistic racing manga then set your bar low and you should enjoy mf ghost.

I love initial d. In 2017, Shuichi Shigeno realized that the only way for himself to get money was to write manga about cars like he did 30 years ago. reading MF Ghost has been nothing but downright horrible ever since its debut. From seriously creepy character choices, straight up making stuff up about car functions, and the basic concept of a stock toyota beating out 911's and 488s is insane. I dont know how this man is even allowed to continue, let alone get his own anime (again.) I hope he puts down the pen and realizes that he peaked in the 90s and ... that he shouldve left it that way.
