After seeing this had no review, I thought it'd be a fun candidate for my first one! First off, it's VERY explicit. This is full-on yaoi hentai material and unless you're interested in seeing gay porn with a plot then this is NOT for you. Here's my yaoi checklist for quick useful info:
• Is there consent?: Erm, not in the first sex scene but after that it's consensual.
• Are they over-age?: Yes
• Seme/Uke: They stick to their roles but the uke is by no means submissive.
• Type of guys: Muscular jock-like guys. Pretty equal in build.
• Fetishes: Bondage in the first scene.
• Incest: None
Smut level: Very high. You see everything - it's hentai. Minimal small, standard censor lines. No invisi-dicks/lightsaber penises.
On the plus side (for guys like me), this is borderline bara. The guys are more muscular than in most yaoi and they're both the same build. So while there is the traditional uke & seme, they aren't physically distinguished as such. It does fall into the trope of the first sex scene not being really consensual but the guy is pretty into it so it's not as jarring as other scenes I've read.
I think the artwork is the biggest selling point, it's really well-drawn and it's pretty hot - in fact, it's very hot - especially some of the later sex scenes. Neither of the guys are hot are juvenilised like a lot of yaoi material. The sex scenes are detailed and minimally censored - fortunately, there are definitely no invisi-dicks/lightsaber-penises.
The story is good enough for what this is. The plot is basically set-up to enable a bit of fighting/action, to make the guys fit the bad boy tsundere archetype and to trigger the opening bondage scene. The most bizarre part is that the assassin has a phobia of cats to the point of freaking out whenever someone makes a 'miaow' noise, which is played for laughs but is just stupid. The whole "they hate each other but they want to fuck each other" thing is the main attraction of this story and it's done very well.
As for enjoyment, I'll just say that I enjoyed it a lot if you catch my drift. Smut like this is going to be very subjective but I will say that if you (like me) often find yaoi guys way too bishounen then these guys are definitely more masculine. They're ripped but it doesn't venture too far into bara territory - just enough. So if you're a fudanshi who's looking for something that sits neatly between yaoi and bara then this is pretty rare and pretty perfect.
