Shinobu is just an average schoolgirl and most certainly not a ninja—at least, that is what she claims. Class representative Hitoyoshi Kageyama finds this hard to believe though, as he is the only person to regularly see her scaling walls, throwing shuriken, lobbing smoke bombs, and disappearing without a trace.
Despite being an expert at combat and infiltration, Shinobu is completely inexperienced when it comes to friendship and romance. She accordingly struggles with expressing her feelings to Hitoyoshi, who is unfortunately also quite dense. Still, the two of them gradually grow closer to each other through various interactions and school activities. In the process, Shinobu also experiences life as a normal high-schooler.
SHOULD YOU READ IT? If you want to get DIABETES then FAK YEAH READ THIS SH*T BRO.
There's a girl in your class. She's secretly a ninja, and you're the only one who knew her secret. Yup, that is the summary of this story.
Ninja Shinobu-san no Junjou is a refreshing ROMCOM manga which its main audience is just people who want to have a good sweetness experience of their life. I know you are kinda like "Real Life sucks and so am I rite?" guys, so just let's get going to my review.
Story (8): It is basically a slice of life story.
The plot of most chapters ends in 1 chapter, so there's basically no cliffhanger. That's being said, you still want to read more because of the curiosity of the main characters' development.
Art (7): The art is not great, but not that bad. The character design still can hook you up, but the environment is... I would say "too white". Not like I don't like white but hey, we all don't like white supremacy. Need to put some tints on that environment. (I heard from other people that the manga artist is a high school student, which makes sense to me).
Character (9): Well I'm not good at memorizing character's name, but I will say they are pretty well-written. If you guys read any romcom manga, you will see a handsome dude and a plain dude, it's similar to this manga. There's 1 side character which I think don't have much of character development (the bar/shop girl, who always in the store. When I say always, it's like forever). However, the rest of them are lit.
Enjoyment (9): Yeah, I really enjoy this kind of story, it's kinda refreshing and there are no NTR WHATSOEVER in the story. It's really refreshing for thus who got depressed with other dark shit manga. Try this manga bro, it's a good drug for you.
Overall: I will say (8) is my sweet spot, really enjoy this so far.
rest of the review... not really necessary honestly, but might as well do it for context.
Story: Story is well-paced and progresses the relationship of the two mains nicely with some development for the side cast. Story revolves around Shinobu the Kunoichi interacting with Hitoyoshi, the only guy that knows she's a ninja and is trying to expose it. First few chapters revolve around antics between the two. and honestly the first few chapters are kinda cringe-worthy at first because of hitoyoshi, but is not too bad. the manga quickly shifts gears later to developing the relationship
between the two mains with some antics in between. There is never any excessive drama, like in most romance stories. it stays light-hearted throughout the entire run. and unlike most comedy manga, the status quo never really ever felt stagnant.
Art: art does what it needs to, but is a little higher quality than most comedy manga. Main girl is a cute "soft" kuudere and some of the opening art panels are drawn really well.
Characters: Shinobu, the main girl, is a cute "soft" kuudere and never ceases to be one. Hitoyoshi is dense, but never frustrating though he was a bit cringe-worthy in the early chapters, but that's the worst he ever gets, he's the typical too nice to a fault kinda guy, and at the very least they don't skip over the "to a fault" part like most manga, so he's pretty generic but in a good way. the rest of the side cast is really likable, but describing them would probably spoil some of the gags of the manga, so i won't.
Enjoyment and Overall: Not really much left to say honestly.
Before I get into the review I would like to say one thing. THIS MANGA IS A HIDDEN GEM. I absolutely loved this manga. It was so cute and heartwarming that it really made my day every time I read it.
The story is quite simple. There a girl who is a ninja but is not allowed to tell anyone that she is a ninja except one person, a person that she likes. In the beginning of the story we get introduced to the main MC who is the love interest of that ninja girl and we basically follow their relational development throughout the
story. The story is nothing out of the ordinary but it definitely makes way for a cute romantic relationship that the readers see progress throughout every chapter. Like I always say with romance-focused stories, the main selling point is the characters and Ninja Shinobu does a great job selling that point.
The art fits really well with the theme and setting of this manga. It's light-hearted, kind of childish, and the reactions of the characters is absolutely hilarious. You can totally tell if someone is annoyed, heartbroken, or just happy and that's what I came to appreciate about the art for this anime. A lot of the emotions are exaggerated and just seeing a character blush or feel heart broken stirred up so many emotions inside of me. I feel that if the art makes you feel a certain way then it's done a good job so I have to say good job to the artist for Ninja Shinobu.
I feel like the main attraction of this manga is definitely the characters. The main couple and the side characters were all so lovely and the side characters weren't even considered side characters because they received a lot of chapters and had their own little arcs. Even though the characters weren't too realistic, I still enjoyed it as no character was annoying or disruptive in other people's relationships. Every character felt like a main character and that's one thing I came to appreciate from this manga.
If you want a fun, innocent, diabetes giving type of manga, this manga is for you. I absolutely loved this manga . It's sad to know that many people haven't read or even heard of this manga, but if you ever have the time, you should definitely check out Ninja Shinobu-san no Junjou!
This series was a very fun read. It progressed nicely and was very funny with a lot of quick wit humor. It didn't get boring at any point and was worth the wait for each chapter. The only downside is that it wasn't long enough!
The art fits the story well and was easy on the eyes. Not much else to say.
The main characters were funny with their reoccurring jokes and were often very adorable to watch. They had a variety of characters and they stuck to their personalities.
It was fun to read and had entertaining plots. The pureness of the
characters in the story really sold it. There was no drama as far as I can remember so it was nice that it was kept light-hearted. Essentially I would recommend reading this if you want something nice, funny, somewhat adorable, but no drama.
