It's a jack of all trades that combines mecha-musume, idols, magical girls and action.
Animation, soundtrack and visuals are very good, however story is rather lackluster.
In this aspect SAO is actually a good comparison.
Cast of characters varies with quality, with Yellow Yellow thing being IMO the worst protagonist in all anime, while Tsubasa being one of the best deuteragonist ever.
Starting from 3rd season, the formula began to be noticeably repetitive with it's 3 villainesses being Talk no Jutsu by Yellow Thing and becoming friends.
What I found the most intriguing is that common consensus of ending of the series being very good, but I found it awful and frustrating.
Also, it must be noted, that there is an edgy shock factor present. This anime literally starts with children being violently killed and screaming in agony (carbonisation is described as particularly nasty way to go) and it continues later on.

Overall, it's a decent, easy to digest series that doesn't require a massive attention span and overall you can just shut off your brain off and enjoy cute girls fighting.

Yes,it’s amazing and one of my favorites.
Overall it’s just a good time especially from season 2 onwards.
Don’t expect the deepest stories or characters though as that’s not what the show is about

I liked the songs and the graphics but I felt the story was poorly written. It's not that there wasn't anything interesting but that most of its potential was wasted. Some parts could be difficult to watch, especially if you have high empathy. It was a 1 time watch for me. There are plenty of better anime I could have spent my time on instead. I personally wouldn't recommend this to anyone at all, however, it's always best to form your own opinions. One man's trash is another man's treasure, right? I think most people wouldn't really care for this anime for the reasons I mentioned, but there will always be the outliers who'll like it. If you want a good mecha, I recommend Code Geass or 86, but both have deeper elements to them and could also be hard to watch for some. Both are very interesting though and much better written.
