Hope he’s alright I kinda wish that Endou would take this time and step up his game a little bit more and deliver something exciting with the series rather than do the usual Sol/comedy stuff that we get cuz after the 100 chapter mark the series definitely needs to pick up the pace in terms of plot progression and some meaningful character development

I agree here. I know SxF at its core is meant to be a slice of life funny comedy story. But it had a plot since day 1 and it loses it somewhere, real bad. In the 80~ chapter range there was that one arc that made me real hyped for actual plot progression but then its like nothing happened and we got an entire backstory arc (not saying it was bad but yeah).

Might be reaching to conclusions here but I’m pretty sure that it has to deal with the whole thing of Endou not having complete autonomy over his own creation as he has stated previously that before SxF his one-shots never actually achieved any commercial success unlike Fujimoto who’s one-shots were sold like hotcakes so he had to go through with this story as his editor told him that it would be a good idea to combine the spy stuff with a wholesome cute factor and as you guessed it’s now a popular series.
