Slow episode, but setting the stage i guess, have read the source material so I don't know ill probably read it soon though. I an assuming shit will go side way and MC will end up doing something OP, but we will see.

I didn't mind the episode even if it did feel like a Filler a lot of the time.

@mizukasa no dear, it is the novel adapted too, from there are the ones u all call filler
i read that news when was posted no need to remind
@dany_elle1908 Great. Can you tell me how many useless fillers are there in the novel that aren't in the manwha? Actually, nvm, I dropped it. It's interesting they decided to animate a lot of useless stuff that no one would care about later in the story considering the anime only have 4 episodes left. 8 episodes in and we barely got any action at all. The title should be "I Alone Can Get Stronger From Doing Daily Exercises."

@mizukasa bro with all due respect if you are right about next episode that the prisoners will do some shit and jin woo will say i am here to save the day then i promise you with this comment that i will stop watching anime and will delete my myanimelist account. And one more thing The scenes that are not in manhwa are not filler parts you are refering too, those are introduced to refin the story, which was missing from the manhwa
@Ken_shiv_10 Bro, I know because I read the manwha. It was bad overall but the anime did it even worse. I actually can't believe there's an anime out there that managed to get even worse than SAO.

@mizukasa you didnt even read it you said in your previous comment you said that prisoners are going to fuck up the party members. And by any chance even if read it and you find it bad then why watch anime in first place, then what it makes you critic reviewer or just a hater who want to hate on anime because you to spread hate.

@Ken_shiv_10 I never said I didn't read it btw, and anyone with half a brain can predict what's going to happen even without reading the manwha. What else can happen, are they going to drink tea or something, or maybe eat samgyupsal inside the dungeon together with the convicts? I'm watching the anime for entertainment first and foremost. I expected more when the director said he wants SL to become the next SAO but who would've thought the animated version is actually a massive downgrade compared to the manwha. Manwha (bad), anime (worse). I'm a person entitled to my own opinion. Sheesh, just accept it.

With the one-week break, I thought a good episode would come, I just didn't understand this need to include a character's plot that doesn't have much relevance in the work, just to fill up the episode's time instead of getting straight to what matters.

A pretty calm episode, but we got some information, I liked it.

We got to see Jinwoo accept Jinho's offer, and Jinwoo thinking about how to approach stuff + a tad more info on how the system works.
Hae-in sniffing out stalkers
Some more side Character screentime and buildup for what's to come next ep. I would have loved to see a bit more actual insight into Hae-in's character, but I guess since she doesn't have much of a character in the manhwa either, they would have to pull a lot from their asses and practically build a whole new character, which could make it better but also worse.

The bingo card is new, I think. I wonder where they plan to go with this.

I think it's pretty obvious by now that this Anime should best be binge-watched in order for the pacing to really make sense and the hook to actually catch, if you're an Anime-only person.
I usually never watch stuff that's still airing, because I have a general problem of connecting to the show if I don't binge-watch, but since I know what's gonna happen anyway, it doesn't make much of a difference, but I can see others being affected by this, which is why I'd advice to just wait until it's finished instead of complaining about the same thing every single episode.

@mizukasa man you are really trying to justify your hate.. go on do it in every episode i loved this adaptation...it does not matter what you say or what i say the scores says itself it will decided at the end of cour 1 of SL how well it will play it out, So do it as much you want

@i_want_to_escape Having lesser numbers is a much better idea than using violent criminals to pad the numbers. Those criminals will turn against anyone else anyways
@Dukino Well I think there is just a minimum number of members required to pass through a gate. It was said you need 8 people to pass through a C-level gate. That is what I meant by "padding the numbers". And it hasn't escaped my attention that there are nine of them in total in front of the gate. Idk what's up with that.

This is quite literally frustrating, we get a week break, and then we get this trash only exposition episode half of which is pure filler, this is solo leveling not lets show cha doing laps around a track and stills of a baek drinking in a bar. Also, people calling this a good cliffhanger is the funniest stuff ever, there is literally nothing suspenseful or uncertain we are all watching the same show after all, solo leveling, where the main character does quite literally becomes op, we all know that, just as we all know the prisoners are dodgy and something is gonna happen in the dungeon and sung jin woo is gonna stun everyone by showing how op he is a wrecking them. It's not like your on the edge of your seat wondering just whats gonna happen next, will the mc succeed or not lmao, you already know what will happen. I have read the manga so I do know what happens before someone says no you got it wrong... you'd never expect it, but my point is more a about how this shows story is just not the kind of story you cliffhanger.

It feels like a build-up episode, I suppose. However, after the recap episode last week, I was expecting some action in this one. Hopefully, the next episode will make up for it. Also, it seems the Hunter's surveillance team intentionally put them together in this dungeon. Who knows, the dungeon might be a B-rank one.

A boring episode, a lot of awkward exposition, especially the thing about how guilds work and about making a new one. I also hated the flashback. It it obviously to make you care about the swordsman guy, but it was done so by the numbers that it is painful to watch. I don't know who do you have to be to be suddenly invested in this character.

It was good seeing Joohee though. She clearly has to overcome some trauma. I wonder how they will realize that. I hope she will be more than a damsel in distress who falls for the MC.

What is this guy's deal?

@i_want_to_escape

This guy SPECIFICALLY? Oh, nothing much, you'll probably never see him again if i remember. You'll see next episode probably, or the one after that, considering how utterly trash the pacing of the show is so far. Honestly i don't get all the praise for the show, the pacing makes it borderline hard to watch.

@Keyar Why is the pacing so trash anyway? Not like the source material is a masterpiece or anything, and it also has way too much talk, but come on, i'm falling asleep while watching this 'hype' show

This was such a chore to watch, especially coming of a break last week. The characters just are nowhere near good or interesting enough from this episode to carry an exposition-heavy build of an episode, and even with what the anime original content was trying to add in some little ways, everything felt so dull to watch that there was just no impact in general. I don't mind series like these having exposition-heavy episodes, in fact in some cases, it helps a lot to build a world that is more than just the most generic setting imaginable. Just the execution here was sleep-inducing to sit through with some absurd stuff taking place too with the end there with the criminals being a part of the party in this raid lol.
@animejas You can make exposition episodes interesting too, but it relies on good writing and directing, especially if you go for 'show and don't tell' more... Sadly anime adaptations often seem to be almost fully incapable of it

@Sokah Lol, you should read the novel, its even worse "He had a serious expression, and he probably spent a lot of time frowning from the wrinkles on his face, this is just the type of person he was, yes." "Only some of the ingredients for making that item where used, but not all of them, is that maybe because of his intelligence stat? (Jinwoo pondered)" Full of fucking near pointless blabbering. Frankly i don't get the praise people give the series, but now in anime form it came out pretty damn dull..

An other less than mediocre episode. Couldn't care less about the characters, more boring filler exposition straight up out of a fanfic. The writing really feels amateurish, maybe the author was 15yo when he wrote this, I don't know. Suspension of disbelief has been obliterated already, at this point, I can't take the world they're trying to convey seriously. It's even worse since the show takes itself quite seriously.

This show is obviously using the good old PADDING strategy, stretching it as long as they can. 8 episodes could have been 3, really, nothing happened there, and they still find a way to throw a recap episode there.
This is not the early 2000s anymore, the next-gen popular action shonen adaptations are fast paced, this is the quality standard.
The Solo Leveling executives marketing plan is obviously to edge the audience until the finale, to leave with a big cliffhanger, so the consumers are going to rush to buy the manhwa.
I know it's the plan for most adaptations, but they couldn't make it more obvious and greedy.

At least, quality adaptations like JJK or DS give you a lot of content, fast paced with QUALITY screenwriting and an actual art direction, so you'll read the manga anyways. But I can tell that if Solo Leveling revealed too much of its source material's content in season 1, there wouldn't be much left to tell, since it's so empty of substance, it wouldn't have helped the manhwa sellings, they had to use shady tricks to lure readers.
A shame! Yikes!

An uneventful episode after a gap of 2 weeks. A bit of world-building and some hints about what happened on that island. Let's hope the next episode delivers plenty of action.

One member of the team seems to have been hired (or asked) to kill the three convicts, presumably by a relative of someone they killed. At first I thought they planned to kill Jin-Woo, but since Jin-Ho is AWOL and that man asked to "kill them" either the convicts are the targets or Jin-Woo's former comrades from that bloody raid.

Either way it must be someone's relative seeking revenge/justice.

This episode was mainly focused on preparing the storyline. The pace of the show slowed down a bit to fit everything into place.
About half of the episode was filler content that included more anime original scenes providing additional information about the world-building and characters.
I believe this episode is good for anime-only fans. I found it average as a Manhwa reader, but it was still enjoyable.
I am looking forward to the next episode where we can expect more action!

This was definitely a build-up episode, but one that was needed. I did like how we got to see the other hunters that Jinwoo worked with back at the start of the series and how they're living their life after what happened. At the same time, it also shows how their drives to continue this professional hasn't died out just yet, which led to a rather bittersweet reunion. I'm glad that Joohee is trying her best to take the step in the right direction and wanting to regain her confidence and seeing Jinwoo again certainly helps that.

However, due to the lack of hunters available, their group do have to work with a trio of criminals wanting to have their sentences reduced, although going by one of the guy's reactions towards seeing Joohee, I very much doubt that. =/

Either way, it'll be interesting to see how this patched-up group will tackle this dungeon. It could go swimmingly well, or there'll be a surprise waiting to catch everyone by surprise, who knows. I look forward to it regardless.

There are so many unnecessary, fan service scenes that exhaust length of episodes in this anime and this episde is no exception. Like, wtf was that scene with Chae Hae-In sitting and zoom being made on her... crotch in leggins after her work out routine? At this point, even my friend who read the manhwa and was super excited for the adaptation has said today that it's complete garbage and money grab. The fact it has such a high score is beyond my comprehenion, nvm.

As someone who has finished the manwah, I can say that we got some anime only events/exposition this ep, as well as some story elements that were suppose to turn up later in the story. I’m talking about the bingo card (anime only), the car ride with the Yoojins (anime only), Cha getting scouted (anime only), the quest of getting a guild master for the Yoojin guild (anime only), and the mention of the Jeju island raids (came up early). I’m not sure what all these divergences from the original material is meant for, but I’m hopeful for a clear reason soon.
Aside from that, the next ep (or possibly next two) will be one of the first big fights we see Jinwoo in, so get hype!

... I knew I said I would force myself to keep watching just to see how much worse it would get, but I hated this episode LOL

Why is this old man going back into a dungeon with one arm. Why is that other dude going in when he has a wife and kids. Stay your ass at home and get a normal job and look after your kids

And apparently prisoners are acting as substitute hunters. Why...? I can't wait to see how this goes wrong

And dude that scene towards the end with that healer girl (can't be bothered to remember her name at this point), made me cringe so hard. I don't remember the last time I cringed that hard while watching anime
