 I always find it strange when characters in anime don't take their gloves off when shaking hands. Are authors just lazy or Japanese don't have this concept because it's foreign to their culture? |

Handshaking was initially done to proof to the other one that you are harmless and can be trusted. They would literally shake each other's arm to see if the other one has any weapons like daggers and later guns hidden in their sleeves. And of course that wouldn't make much sense if they wore gloves where they could also hide something, that's why you usually take off your gloves before shaking hands. Of course today it doesn't really matter anymore and is just a relic of the past but so is handshaking in general. |

| It's to not spend time, frames and stuff on a character taking off a glove. Yes, they could show the hand without the glove, but then "lool where'd dat glove go? lazy, cheap production with animation errors" or something along the lines. I made this up |
| When both of them are wearing gloves than why would they take it off? In etiquette [at least in Poland] you take off gloves when the second person is not wearing them to not shake hands in situations of glove x bare hand. |
