You start watching that anime thinking "it deserves a chance maybe" and after an episode or two you realize "oh that's why its low rated and not because it's under-rated" and when the plot takes the most obvious turn where you just sigh and feel conflicted, you immediately close it and add it to the drop list. At least that's how I do it but I do have my fair share of bad anime I've completed idk how lol. Maybe I thought about needing a few 1,2-scored anime in my list :P

I sometimes drop decent shows because certain characters annoy me, and sometimes keep watching bad shows when I like certain characters in them. Sometimes I keep watching a show because I like a certain interaction between 2 characters, sometimes I drop a show because the main character has an annoying habit. Really depends on my mood.

actually i never dropped a show. when i dont like a show i put the speed on two and let it run on my second screen. i always have the hope that a show can get better. A thing that i hate about my own watching habit is that i also never dropped a franchise. i started to watch the very first gundam because i was interested in the new one.

So you can get more mal credit obviously. I'll drop it if suck after like 2 or 3 episodes but if it starts to suck at episode 8 I'll push through 4 more episodes so I can put it down as completed on MAL

If they're like me, a completionist and someone who chooses to finish things in order to review them later, consume more media, expand my scope of entertainment and develop better taste as a result. Watching the bad stuff will help you appreciate the good stuff more.

Rarely if ever is an anime so bad for me that I would even think about wanting to drop it. Also, I am a completionist, and it would pain me more to drop something than it would to finish it, even if I hate it. I think it's about my perspective. Instead of thinking "I'm wasting all my time watching this terrible anime", I think "I'm taking this time to expand my view on the medium further than before." Like I said before though, it's extremely rare for me to hate something. There's only about 3 or 4 anime on my completed list that, if I were someone who dropped things, I would have dropped.

Unless the show I’m watching is a literal slideshow and stick figures with zero story, I won't think of it as bad. So far I enjoyed the shows I’ve given a 5 or 6 to an extent. I also adjust my standards depending on the show I’m watching.

idk I think it's weird that people call themselves "completionists", like some badge of honor. Idk why they feel proud that they wasted a lot of time on anime they didn't like.

In my experience the vast majority of anime don't get better. idc if it gets better, I'm not gonna waste my time for slight chance that it would. A bad anime doesn't suddenly turn into a masterpiece, it has to be good from the beginning.

In my experience, I've used both watching an anime over a long period of time, to lessen the strain it causes me. Or having a drink as I watch, I'm sure you can guess what kind of drink I mean.

My rule of thumb is I will give a show 3 episodes to win me over. Maybe 5 depending on how the story is going. But only reason I can think of is despite not liking the anime itself; you want to know how it ends. This is how I felt when was reading the Fire Punch manga. After that first volume, I almost didn't want to continue. But I wanted to know what happened so bad I went and read the whole thing online in a few days. Good series but dark AF. Unlike Boruto which made me want to slap the snot out of the MC after one episode.

If I still interested to watch it, I'll trash it on my own list. It might still have some good moments that I don't want to miss. If not then I just dropped it that instance.

I like to give things a chance but I always drop if I don't like a show. The only exception is if I stop liking a show when I'm a decent way in. At that point, I figure I might as well see how it ends.

Having a No Drop policy sounds tiring.

If it's a short series (12-16 episodes) I will slug it out just to say I finished t.  If it's 24 or more, I'll just drop it.  Not worth my effort.  I can only stand so much trash.
Which one do you want? An Addiction or A Good Life?
A) Addiction - a progressive narrowing of the things that bring you pleasure.
B) A Good Life - a progressive expansion of the things that bring you pleasure and includes pleasure through motivation and hard work.

Some people are just completionists, some partake in a little thing called "hate watching", and some just have a decent to high tolerance for dumb shit. Now I'm a recovering anime completionist, but at the moment I fall into the latter of those three categories. There's also those weirdos who watch shows at a faster speed like it's some kind of marathon event.

Usually there is reason behind that. Like when I watching the main series but the spin-off is much better in technical aspects (like pacing and so on), so it really necessary to endure that.

Depends on what’s bad about it. Like if it’s just boring to me I’ll be put it on hold and come back when I’m more into the subject matter . Maybe it has a bad start but I’ve seen hints that something crazy happens down the line and i wanna see that happen. Typically it’ll be some school seasonal series that i watch the first two episodes of and be like yeah this isn’t going to elevate above this and I’ll drop it then

Agreed the mediocre ones is usually the problem nowadays. Not too many 1/10s coming out. But lots of 5s that are just watchable. Those are complete waste of time

Facts a spin off or a sequel series i wanna get to and I’m interested in but i need the lore first. Like i started uq holder and was really getting into it but realized it was a spin off so I’m like ugh i gotta go watch the other series first

The old 3 episode rule lol. This used to be law back in the day . Cause typically the first episode would be filler 💀. Crazy times back in the day.

If it's a short anime I'll probably just finish it, with participating in AWC 2022 I watched a variety of animes. Some good some bad.

Continuing on with a bad anime is usually one of three things for me. One, it's out of obligation due to it either being really popular with my circle or influential in general. Two, if even through it's badness I can see some spark of intrigue that could potentially elevate it. Three, if it's awful in a way that I'm having a blast while watching it and I want to see how hard it crashes and burns.

How you finish a bad anime? By setting it as Dropped
" You gotta love humans. When everything sticks to the script, they can put on a great act. But as soon as something unexpected happens, they react completely true to their nature."

If I find it not to my liking, I drop out at that point.

If I don't find it interesting, I will drop out immediately, but those who have a policy of watching to the end will probably watch the last episode in one sitting, even using the double speed function.

pure willpower and the fast forword button (me🤝the 2x button)

Before my ADHD had me dropping shows left and right as soon as the dopamine level dipped-
I even dropped JJBA back in 2017 cuz i didnt like S1 which was a BIG mistake IK
then i became a completionist and dropping shows keeps me up as at night since if i never know how it ends... and my stubborn mind never shuts up LOL

plus if you actually finish mid shiiiit shows you lawfully gain complaining rights!

that's the problem with dropping tho. You can say it's bad but that notion is only limited to the part you've seen. It says nothing about the entire thing and for me that's what keeping me watching it - to know how it ends.
