Netflix Japan announced on Thursday that Tsukasa Hojo's City Hunter manga is receiving a Japanese live-action movie adaptation. The movie is scheduled to premiere worldwide on Netflix in 2024. Ryouhei Suzuki (Hentai Kamen) is starring as Ryou Saeba. Yuuichi Satou (Kisaragi) is directing the movie with Tatsuhiro Mishima handling the script. Yoshihide Ootomo (Inu-Ou) is composing the music. Shinichi Takahashi is serving as the executive producer, with Keisuke Sanpei and Kousuke Oshida being credited as producers. Hojo serialized the comedy detective manga in Weekly Shounen Jump magazine from February 1985 to November 1991. The manga inspired four television anime, an original video anime, four anime movies, and three specials City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes, the latest anime movie in the franchise, premiered in February 2019, grossing over 1.5 billion yen at the box office. A new anime movie, City Hunter: The Movie, is scheduled to open in theaters in 2023. The series was also previously adapted into multiple live-action adaptations outside Japan, including a Hong-Kong live action movie released in 1993, as well as a French live-action movie titled Nicky Larson et le parfum de Cupidon in February 2019. Basically just regular Japanese movies that are promoted through Netflix streaming. They had already adapted some manga, even including one locally known yuri and it was a typical Japanese movie. |

I can bet nobody but me watched Hentai Kamen so they don't have any idea what a perfect choice Ryouhei Suzuki is.. He has the height and the frame to play Ryo saeba and playing hentai mask, he should be an expert like Ryo on panties haha.. I wonder who they gonna get to play umibozu... There are plenty of actresses who can play Kaori and saeko, I wish the article mentioned the cast for them.. Can't wait to see it, but it would be 2025.. |

Yes, only the haircut shoudl be changed like Ryo in the manga. Great news! But I wish they make TV series instead of the movie. And of course further adapt the manga into anime series. |

this series is literally one of the more fit to live action adaptation than any other series. if netflix still fail at that, there is something in inherently problematic with their scriptwriter choice. |
