| My thoughts on the ending starting post time-skip. Isayama decided how it would end, and after the time skip the whole thing became plot driven instead of character driven. This means the characters were acting out of character and making choices they would never do just to get to the ending he wanted. This could have been prevented if he gave them reasons and enough character development, alas it was missing and that's why it fell apart. Also, after the climax he basicaly undid all Eren has achieved and threw all the important themes that were there since the beginning out of the window. Some examples: Wanting to turn Eren bad and make him a tragic hero. Good idea, poor execution. He's the main character and yet we barely see anything of him after the time skip. We don't see how he turned, what his goals are. This should've been a slow change. Telling us he was like this from the beginning is just trying to fix something retrospectively and it doesn't work. Side characters - the characters who were there from the start also get turned into child and nakama slaying machines without any buildup or reprocussions. The only one who at least struggles with it is Connie. This is partly caused by introducing whole new set of characters - the Marleyans. They pushed all the characters we cared for into the background. In the end, Eren tries to... I don't really know what he tries to do. Stop the circle of hate? This would fit with the themes of the story, except he doesn't do it. He makes sure it is continued. Save his friends? If so, he should've just finished the rumbling because by trying to make them heroes who killed Lelouch he failed and they or their children will be killed in time by the main continent anyway. Does he try to give Ymir closure and erase Eldian blood from the world? If so, why the hell would that be accomplished by Ymir seeing Mikasa kill him and then kiss him? Love was never one of the themes of the story. This way he just did a rage quit, same as me. |

| What's also weird about this ending, is that I don't believe that 80% of the world was wiped out. This is one example where the show don't tell approach would have been really important. It all just happened way too fast both in universe and in reading time. |

| Eren is killing billions of innocents so his friends to become heroes… While stumping on little kids this abomination of a character is being used as a comic relief: He wants Mikasa to hold on to him for decades after he’s gone. Historia has no importance in the end (why would her?). Eren is then a bird (apparently). A cute fat pigeon. And there’s the horrible justification of atrocities committed against a girl (she loved the monster who killed her family, cut out her tongue, raped her because……………. SHE LOVED HIM! This artist is sick in the head). |

I don't mind him being sick in the head but I do mind the he's not as smart as everyone thought, I waited and saved my self from spoilers for years, I waited almost 2 years since the final chapter and just finished the manga cz I couldn't wait for the 3rd final season and this is what I get? I don't have words for it, what makes me even more angry is that the ending is fine , but delivery is so impact less that I don't feel anything, there are other better ways to end the story and even a bitter sweet kinda happy ending would've been ok where Eren survives and be happy, it could be poetic that a mass murderer is happy with the love of his life afterall half of AOT characters are mass murderers and they survived just fine like that bastard or that bitch, what m trying to say is that happy ending would've been fine but even if it's not happy ending, even if it's something like this it should've been well executed so the audience could feel a proper heart break |

| So in the end the whole turn of events is just unjustified. Why would we(readers) or the people of Paradies care about others who slaughtered them for centuries and ruin their happiness for the sake of people who would eventually try to kill them again and take revenge? I cannot sympathize with any of the characters who opposed Eren, they are the real villain and actually deserve to die for the atrocity they committed for no apparent reason well with I don't have high hopes either for the action scenes that will be adapted in the movie so meh... |

| One of the few anime/manga I was actually still interested in and boy did it disappoint. From around chapter 125 I got the sense that something was 'off' about the story and where it was heading. That's why I'm confused about some people claiming it's this one chapter that ruined the ending. The entire rumbling arc simply did not share any of the qualities that made Attack on Titan so good. Whether it's the far too easy reconciliation (I rewatched the Female Titan Arc and boy now even the Levi panel of 139, that tries to tug at your heart strings, becomes major clown shit) between people of the Alliance, the generic battle of 'Good vs Bad' and the abundant plotholes, it simply did not line up with the rest of the manga. I always got the sense that the author actually thought ahead to avoid gaping plotholes, and the characters were consistent. Moreover, the story had a sort of bleak, bittersweet tone to it. I expected the ending to reflect that, but what we got was a weak attempt at Code Geass' ending. I'm genuinely curious as to what the author was actually trying to portray. He literally had all of the main cast condemn genocide, but made genocide the only option for Paradis to survive and made Eren out as some tragic hero. It's not about ending the cycle of hate, as Paradis was destroyed down the line by the surviving 20%. It's just an incoherent mess. I could go on for hours as to why it sucks, but hey. I'm just happy MAL is not doing a repeat of its reception of Tokyo Ghoul's ending, which was also very bad (but not quite as bad as AoT's), and actually has a lot of people calling it out for what it is. An incoherent, cheap mess that is aimed at shippers. |

| 1/5,This is a clown ending, This is an NTR ending in 🥸, brilliantly done but there is one problem with the ending ,for those who are saying that Eren x Mikasa is connon, you need to get your facts right here if you do not understand that than you are a clown ,Eren made historia pregnant ,nd took away her memories of who it was that made her pregnant, all this was done becoz eren knows that he will be killed by Mikasa ,and that is why he said he always hated her and asked her to forget about me ,I hope the ones who are reading this gets that in their heads How the hell or since when did Eren Love Mikasa? That absolutely makes no sence and this proves that eren is coming up with all these excuses to hide his real intentions which will never be revealed It is basically that eren lost and he is giving excuses in such a way that Armin is not even questioning his sanity? Armin is a bit inconsistent here, but it is fine ,the overexaggeration of Eren x Mikasa by the fans proves tht they are clowns It does not matter actually the ending was good , probably a great one as it satisfies all types of viewers and I am one of them, everyone one with different tastes will probably like or don't like this ending ,it's up to you ,but only the smarts ones will understand what is going on here |

| It certainly was an interesting ending, however criticising it is hard. A world built up as densely and thoroughly as Attack on Titan it makes it quite difficult for the fans to truly grasp it coming to a definitive end. Yes, the ending could have been better, but the widespread response of people criticising the ending I believe are just fans so indulged in the incredible world it created that for it to end can't be grasped fully. |

Yes, the ending could have been better, but the widespread response of people criticising the ending I believe are just fans so indulged in the incredible world it created that for it to end can't be grasped fully. The only critical part about this chapter is Eren's character change, Isayama (the author) completely retconned all the previous events and dialogues he had rendering it as completely useless , annoying, His entire dialogue with Armin was the worst ,the other parts about this chapters was somewhat bearable ,it felt nice ,warm wholesome bla bla bla , but for the ones who paid attention to the story it was a slap in the face and complete betrayal of Eren's character I won't go into detail explaining why, fans on reddit,Twitter, youtube etc etc already explained it in a much better way But the point is (EREN'S CHARACTER ASSASINATION), remember assasination is not that eren died was bad ,but his entire reasoning as to why ,what ,etc etc completely goes against his character or what he was buildup to be If you analyse his character properly ,it felt like he was building up to be a kind of a Epic Villian,it really felt like that(a villian who has a proper believable backstory unlike other generic villians in anime and tv shows) But in chapter 139 it was revealed that eren was being controlled by destiny? Since when?there is no evidence in the story that he was being controlled by destiny!,all his dialogues reveal that he had free will and was a free man To put it simply eren's character is become a mess after ch 139, Ch1-138 you can argue of him being one of the greatest character in fiction ,the most compelling character ,the most believable villian ,and a tragic personality ever created ,but once 139 dropped all tht was thrown away and he became a way worse character than a generic shounen caste The only way to fix AOT is by the anime ,as in A proper anime original ending ,just change stuff or direction before the last 4 chapters, keep the same plot points but change the dialogue or present it in a believable way |

| Well, even if everything became quite hasty (bird appears, bird knows how to fly, for just one example), and the "it was all planned all along" became intensively more stupid as chapters went by (but it was probably the only "logical" course of events), it was still a fun last stretch. A bit too much action for the mangaka's style but he avoided more by going the conversational road, good point. Too bad the thing he had planned was that it all happened because a ghost was curious about the opposition between freedom and being prisonner of love... THAT is the disappointing point. I won't complain more because it made me laugh and I got what I wanted as picture : Mikasa with Eren's head. That the author took pain to make all this surprising with turnabouts and all only to show how futile it was beyond the scale of the characters life added to my fun (I loved the logical "and the island was ultimately destroyed" ending, second good laugh of the chapter.) Why didn't it stop here though? The magic historical biology revealed a few chapters ago (primitive life form behind the human titan "evolution") used to show that it was all a tiny part in a neverending cycle (just like hate) sure makes the manga's point a bit more obvious but were readers that oblivious to need it? @FMMatron I was curious about your overall reaction, but I don't get how to find someone 's post in a particular thread. -_- 3/5 Tome 12, colossal print: 5/10 Series: 6,5/10 Quite nice overall (but mostly the initial stuff and subsequent internal intrigues), with enough pre-written stuff to hold up a certain time through different genre shifts and big turnabouts. But ultimately too extended to not lost itself here and there and avoid a contrived way to and ending (seriously, "memory time travel"? -_-). (I guess I can't really blame the author, since it was his 1st and only long series. Plus, I got every returning character I was expecting since the middle of the 1st part, on the side I had foreseen, plus some more.) Someone said to me that the anime would "fix" things up, with the author having a year to reflect on his rushed last bits written under stress. I wonder what could be "fixed" at that point though. Unless he returns in his old self memory and manipulate him from the beginning? June 6th, 2022 @Peeti I'm just naturally more into germans. |

| @Rei_III Let me say it like this. AoT peaked with the basement reveal and the ocean scene. That was like the perfect payoff. Post timeskip had it cool parts too, but it felt a bit half-assed, especially the worldbuilding and the politics. I wasn't a fan of Eren's attitude, but I liked him as a tragic character, all his suffering and the pathetic way he went out. I had mixed feelings on Paths and activation of the Rumbling. Chapter 131 was a spectacle and I'm looking forward to see it adapted. That and the alliance moments were the best that came around from it. I'm still not happy how the Rumbling was stopped, even tho I saw it coming. P.S. Don't believe random people claiming stuff like the anime will have an original ending or something along these lines. The anime will most likely only adapt the extra pages. |

| Just finished watching the anime for 5 days and then read the manga ending. I have seen people telling this was a bad ending, I'll have to re watch for sure to see overlooked details and to know exactly what made it bad.. But personally, I just like to have a happy ending so I can sleep with relief while smiling to myself lol. This has been such a wild ride, it's already depressing as it is so I really like to see a happy ending. Eren did not deserve to die.. If I could see an ending where Eren (upon getting the powers of the founding titan) can undo the titan powers and undo the titan curse in the world, I would also like to see that people who died for this cause alive again.. Ymir even though she is already dead, is still staying in the coordinate/path together with those Ymir subjects.. it sends a message that she still has some unfinished business in the world, she wants somebody to save her from suffering, that's why her soul is still alive. I would like to see an ending where Eren' words saves Ymir from coordinate, and then after Mikasa kills Eren (which Ymir couldn't do to the King), she got relieved, her soul was silenced, and because of that, she can now go to the afterlife at peace with herself (together with the centipede titan curse) and then bringing those people in the coordinate/path back to life again and people can start to live again in this new world. And then Mikasa x Eren having a family and then Commander Erwin, Hanji and all the scouts, Commander Pyxis, Hannes-san, and everybody alive living a happy ever after. I dunno if that was sensible story lol. I hope I can see a happy ever after spin-off of the ending. -sigh- --- 07.13.2022 - 07.17.2022 |

-sigh- --- 07.13.2022 - 07.17.2022 Ymir becomes evil,Armin accepting Eren for what he did,Eren became a good person ,etc are the reasons for the ending to become so terrible |

| Ending still wasn't good, but not as bad as I was expecting. Still overall a great series. The last arc was pretty mid, but the entire rest of the series was a masterpiece. |

| I share a similar opinion with the post above, went in expecting this to be a complete disaster, but came very close to considering it a good ending, if it weren't for a couple of issues I had with the way Eren and Armin's conversation in the Paths was handled. This was a very important moment, as Eren and Armin shared a final conversation, Armin finally understood what Eren was going through and how he actually feels about the things he's done as opposed to how he was presenting himself the whole time, it should have been powerful and emotional, but instead it left me confused because Eren drops some plot bombs regarding his mom's death and Ymir, then he just goes on without elaborating on them like this was nothing special, it felt rushed and unsatisfying. This chapter definitely should have been longer, maybe an entire chapter just on this conversation and the next one being the last chapter with the epilogue as it is would be enough to fix the ending for me. Oh, and Armin saying "Thank you for becoming a mass murderer for our sake" was fucking hysterical, I really hope they change that to a better line in the anime. lol Anyway... Yeah, it's a flawed ending, but not unsalvageable, I can see the anime turning it into something good when it comes out. |
| Who are you and why do you show your hostility towards a complete stranger whom you've not once spoken with before. Are you seriously asking to get blocked? Well, if that's what your intent is; to tempt me into throwing hands with someone as lowly and insignificant as you, then i may grant your wish provided you articulate yourself a bit better when trying to spite a person of my wavelength. |

| Completed this masterpiece today. I had watched the first 3 seasons of anime before reading manga from the start and I totally wish I hadn't. The manga was so much better. Only the parts I hadn't seen in anime had suspense while reading. Still, I fully enjoyed the whole manga. yeah, the "ymir's unrequited love" plot device felt lame. But I still consider this a masterpiece. And I enjoyed every panel in every page. |

I think the majority of people didn't even understand the message coming from the whole manga and the ending. Kinda sad |

| I came here expecting a complete disaster of an ending because of all I've heard but I think it was only a flawed ending. I don't like it 100% but I accept it. Still AOT was great. |
